In the Far East, messengers are distributed with invitations to go to the “demonstration of yellow vests” on May 1. The organizers of the action declare that they will gather on the streets of various cities of the Far East in order to “express the distrust of the party in power and local officials.”
The authors and characters of the video offer other residents of the Far Eastern regions to join the May Day demonstration, wearing yellow vests, as participants of the protests that have been going on since November in France do. According to activist Alexei Petrov from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, officials tried to prevent the shares by banning sellers of one of the markets from selling yellow vests.
In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on May 1, activists also organize an “open microphone” for everyone who wants to comment on the political and economic situation in Russia.
Residents of the Magadan region in the comments under the video also said they would support the action of “yellow vests.” Participants intend to join the already agreed festive procession.
In January, a rally was held in the center of Novosibirsk against raising the retirement age, VAT and gasoline prices, dozens of whose participants came out in yellow vests.
In November 2018, rallies began in France after the announcement of an increase in taxes on fuel. People across the country in protest put on yellow reflective vests, hence the name of the action. The authorities imposed a moratorium on the decision to raise the tax on fuel, but the protests continue under broader economic and political slogans – until the resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
