The European Union regulates kitchen gloves

At present, there are no standards to guarantee that glove by reflective material will actually protect us from heat. The European Commission is planning, changing and wanting to introduce specific standards. However, this idea raises quite a lot of controversy.

About the first issue, the RMF FM radio reported. The Commission has decided to address this issue because there are around 100,000 in the European Union each year. Hand burns. This is because gloves more often perform decorative functions than protective ones.

In the EU since 1989 a directive on PPE has been in force. It includes safety helmets, ear muffs, safety shoes, life jackets, bicycle helmets, sunglasses and reflective vests. But these are all things used in professional work.

Now the European Commission has decided to add to this list … kitchen gloves. According to the planned records, each such glove will have to meet a number of stringent safety standards. The Commission ensures that despite the increased cost of production, gloves should not be much more expensive due to the mass of this product.

The UK has protested against this. “The Commission was supposed to limit the over-regulation of citizens’ lives rather than create new, unnecessary norms,” argued the British MEP. Most countries, including Poland, have no problem with the new regulations about the safety gloves.
