The gloves with reflective material certified compulsory from Sunday

Proposed by the Road Safety Committee (IRB) on 2 October 2015, the measure requiring mandatory gloves with reflective material certified on a motorized two-wheeled vehicle was validated and published in the Official Gazette on 19 September.

As a result, all users of motorcycles and scooters, pilots as passengers, must now be equipped with EPI-certified gloves in all circumstances. The measure will come into force on Sunday, November 20th. In other words, you have until Saturday to buy you a homologated pair if not yet the case.

As a reminder, any glove cannot be worn. The decree of 19 September 2016 specifies that the latter must be “in conformity with the regulations on personal protective equipment, like the safety vest“. They are recognizable by the CE marking specific to the practice of the motorcycle.

As of Sunday, any driver or passenger who does not respect this new regulation of the Highway Code will be subject to a third-class fine, a flat-rate fine of € 68 and a withdrawal of a point on the driver’s license.

In order to accompany this measure and to insist on the importance of adapted equipment, Road Safety launches a new prevention campaign. The latter reminds users of the need to protect their hands on a two-wheeler by using reflective accessory. This campaign will be broadcast in the print media and available on the web.
