In the dark, pedestrians must wear reflective elements

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine obliged pedestrians to use reflective elements in the dark. The rule applies to people moving on the carriageway or shoulder.

The corresponding decision was made by the government on November 11 during a meeting. Channel 24 reports.

Reflective elements include ribbons, stickers, and vests. Previously, this provision was advisory. Reflective elements are essential in bad weather conditions – rain, fog, and snow.

How and where to attach reflectors?

You can attach this accessory in different ways: on a zipper, tie it with a rope to a belt, or pin it to a jacket with a pin. The main thing is that the reflector is free to “dangle”. It should be noted that all flickers are easily attached to clothes, strollers, backpacks, skateboards, rollers.

Why is it important

The introduction of the norm in the new edition should increase the level of safety of the road network because the presence of reflective elements on the clothes of pedestrians can reduce deaths on the roads by 6 – 8 times.

This is because a person using reflective material elements will be visible at a distance of 130 – 150 meters, while in dark clothes it is visible only at a distance of 25 – 30 meters.

ADAC promotes visibility for cyclists and pedestrians

The dark season has started. Pedestrians and cyclists in particular are difficult to see for drivers. The ADAC will therefore be promoting “Safety through Visibility” from November 17th.

 

The “Visibility Days” run from Tuesday to Thursday (November 17-19). With many campaigns – including in Potsdam and the Linthe Driving Safety Center – the ADAC is aimed at pedestrians and cyclists so that they pay more attention to be easily visible to motorists in the dark.

Visible to the ambulance: the entire village with reflective house numbers

Apart from five addresses, all addresses of the village of Midwolde (municipality of Leek) will soon be provided with reflective house numbers. A call from two young ambulance drivers is effective.

 

The drivers arrived much too late last year to pick up a victim and take them to the hospital. They lost track in the nocturnal darkness.

 

Especially in the outskirts, it often happens that rescuers arrive late because house numbers cannot be found or are illegible from the public road. In situations where literally every second count, that is extremely undesirable.

 

Cry for help

The village association in Midwolde picked up the cry for help. Thanks to a subsidy from the province and Ondernemersfonds Leek, all houses in the village are provided with reflective numbers.

 

What may be called special: the villagers do not have to pull the wallet for this. People from the village association place a pole made of recycled plastic at each parcel. A triangular sign is then applied to this which is provided with reflective material on two sides. The house numbers are stuck in black on it.

 

According to board member Jos Leber (67) of the village association, a large part of Midwolde (133 addresses) is already provided with reflective house numbers. Another 73 addresses will follow this month.

 

The initiative is now being copied in neighboring Lettelbert, Den Horn and Enumatil, where another 50, 46 and five addresses, respectively, are provided with reflective house numbers. This mainly concerns plots in the outlying area. The extra subsidy has been made available for this. Leber calculates that the cost of installing a post with reflection plates is around 25 euros.

The idea of an inventor: “Bio-dynamic only reflectors”

So that pedestrians and cyclists are better seen in the dark what makes an inventor so? Here is a report that fits the season. Inventing begins with the feeling: “That cannot be, that must be better!” One year ago, I heard that young person not visible enough in the dark. They prefer dark clothes. “In the dark season, road traffic is primarily about visibility,” warns the ÖAMTC. Here’s this phrase that makes me shudder when I think of people in a hurry with mobile phones and poor visibility: “Only four percent of pedestrians carry reflectors and a quarter of cyclists are out of lights.” My contribution to the solution I present here because these new reflectors can save lives. That’s when I started experimenting, first with a suspension on rubber straps. I tried to understand the aspects of technology and human behavior. I studied the technically flawless products that I found on the internet and wondered why they are little used by teenagers and adults.

 

A new way: the concept made the difference Finally I found, I could hardly believe, a really new solution. All the parts that make it up are well known, but the combination is something new: you will not find any reflective materials with this combination of properties. What is different? First, my reflectors are “reflectors only”, the entire surface is reflective gray. The dull gray or black elements are therefore maximally effective and unobtrusive at the same time. They leave the look of the clothes unchanged. If the focused light of a spotlight falls on them, they throw it back, but only in the direction of the light source. A chattering group of people, for example, will not be disturbed. Second, these reflectors are so small and light that they can always be there. The third point is for me (pardon!) “The hammer”: the movement, generated by the bio-dynamics of walking or cycling, is sent along with the light signal. Now we have a light signal modulated with a message. We have this message so deep within us that it – Respect, the man on the move! In our attention scale always (!) Top-ranked as the most important.

 

The features of “bi-dynamic only reflectors”: small and light: the reflectors fit into all hand, coat and trouser pockets. Convenient by simple and quick donning, no contact pressure, no weight. It takes 15 seconds for the wheel reflectors. Unobtrusive: a matte, gray area the size of one or two check cards. The elegance or coolness of the outfit remains. Public dangers on the road

The incident occurred Thursday night, climbing the bridge at Albina. The two people bought the animals from Timişoara Dragşina locality and left with them, on foot, to Timişoara, in the South Railway Station area.

Immediately after the accident, the two took the animals and continued their journey to Timisoara. But they went on the edge of the road to the South Railway Station.

 

Meanwhile, even at the moment when the intervention forces were on the scene of the first incident, a few kilometers away, another accident occurred in Otveşti. There, a truck hit an unsigned carriage, and the horse that dragged him lost his life.

Then the children from Kindergarten No. 13 practically tried and demonstrated the received gift by walking around the town with traffic located in the Center. Piła’s President Piotr Głowski attended the meeting organized at the headquarters of WORD at Lotnicza, representatives of the kindergartens and nursery, who received presents. Hoses have been purchased from funds intended to improve road safety.
