Cyclists got vests

City guards handed over several dozen reflective vests to cyclists, so that the amateurs of the two wheels are better visible and safer. Reflections hit the pedestrians.

Once again, the city guards set out on bicycle paths to ensure the safety of cyclists. On Monday, each cyclist encountered on their way received a reflective vest with reflective materials. The guards also remembered the safety of pedestrians. Those in turn received reflective tapes from the officers.

Pedestrians and cyclists constitute a large group of road accident victims. Therefore, it is their safety that should be especially taken care of. During a collision with another vehicle, the driver can count on airbags or seat belts. Pedestrians and cyclists do not protect anything. The reflective elements will at least allow them to be seen from a distance. They save lives of unprotected road users.

The City Guard prepared a total of 300 reflective vests. Half of them have already reached cyclists. They will receive next Bialystok during the next actions.

The vital roles of the Suva, if applied, prevent 60% of serious or fatal occupational accidents. For Philippe, head of the Health and Safety Prevention Department. “these rules are an excellent foundation. But when a company aims for the goal of zero accidents and zero occupational diseases, it is essential to expand them, to make them live, and to turn them into a true culture of safety. ”

Zero risk

Marissa is one of the largest construction companies in Switzerland. A copy of health and safety at the workplace, she won the Suva Safety Award in 2012. The objective zeroes accidents? Intermediate landing for her. “The ultimate goal should be zero risk,” continues Philippe, giving his recipe for success: Effective prevention must be carried out, experienced by the management of the company and supported by a team that commits daily. Everyone has to pull the same rope. ”

The construction company has put in place very strict and unavoidable security measures on the building sites: badge entrance door, mandatory morning warm-up, ladder replacement by nacelles, respect of vital rules, mandatory wearing of helmets, glasses, hearing protection, gloves, reflective vest and reinforced shoes for everyone present. Personal protective equipment is of course offered by the company. “But, beware, this is not a gift, a lot of material to use without exception!”

Daily safety

Health and Safety Prevention manager also noticed a change in the mentality of the “Companions”, the employees on the building sites. “The measures advocated have not always had a resounding reception. We must not fool ourselves. But in recent years, security is no longer suffered at home. She is lived. It’s part of everyday life. “Anise, a trainee with the construction company. Agrees:” I must admit that I have never had a safety-conscious companion “.

“Over the years, we have realized that effective prevention does not prevent effective work, quite the contrary,” insists Philippe. “To work safely, you have to plan, prepare. There must be no room for improvisation. “And when the work is organized and secure, motivation, productivity and satisfaction increase together.

Safety is not a choice and is no longer a duty. It has become a culture experienced at all levels of the company, from director to apprentice. No job deserves to risk one’s life. And it is important for workers to wear safety clothing and use reflective materials in their work place.

When sewage pipe was broke

In the afternoon, there was a rupture of a sewage pipe at the intersection of the streets in 19 and 104, the workers wore safety clothing immediately went to the personal place of the area of Urban Sanitation to begin with the tasks of repair of the problem.

The fault, which probably originated due to the aging of the conduit that is about 40 years old, occurred in a pipeline of the primary impulse network that collects the liquids pumped by 4 of the largest lifting stations of the city and undertakes in The maximum sewer that conducts the liquids to the Effluent Treatment Plant.

Before the fissure of the pipe the liquid began to flow cracking the asphalt and finally sprouting to the surface. Before this, we proceeded to decompress the pipe diverting the liquids by other ways, to relieve the pipeline and get it to work with less pressure to avoid spilling liquids by the road.

The sector that suffered the crack of the asphalt was fenced with a fence, reflective tape and indicator signs and it will remain that way during the night because to carry out the works to correct the inconvenience it is necessary the sunlight, since it is an area of many interferences in the one that join a branch of the aqueduct, sewer collectors, underground conductors and a pluvial pipe.

Reflective vests play an important role in life

Since a powerful 7.1 magnitude quakes struck the region on Tuesday, emergency responders, soldiers, doctors and some teachers have been working around the clock trying to rescue any survivors in the collapsed classrooms at the Enrique Rébsamen primary school. The nameless heroes wearing a reflective vest showed up in the battle again.

As rescuers tried to clear a path to any survivors without further destabilizing the damaged school building, rubble was tediously and meticulously removed, bucket-by-bucket. A makeshift field hospital was built on what had previously been a basketball court, staffed by military doctors who were prepared to treat any survivors that might be extracted from the rubble.

Throughout the day, volunteers kept workers, soldiers, medical staff, victims’ families and even the media fed and hydrated with snacks and drinks. The whole operation was overseen by military officers and Mexico’s secretary of public education, who stationed themselves on a one-storey building overlooking the school playground.

As night fell over Mexico City on Wednesday, rain began to fall. With the possibility that lives could still be saved, and the threat of aftershocks that could cause further collapses, rescuers were battling the clock to save any survivors trapped beneath the rubble. Because of the low visibility in night and rain, reflective tape attached in the safety clothing of rescuers plays an important role in the scene. The reflection of the tape or fabric reaches 330+. Victims can find them at once in the low-visible condition.

Watch out for reflective elements!

The Office for Competition and Consumer Protection dealt with the issue of reflective vests and reflective elements that are to improve our road safety. Trade Inspection carried out a check for this purpose. What is it effective?

The inspection carried out by the Trade Inspectorate in the second quarter of 2017 showed that every second warning vest tested in the laboratory had a low luminance factor. This means the lack of adequate visibility of the user, which poses a threat to his health and life when he is moving on the side. In the case of reflective elements, no such irregularities were found, but there were objections to the instructions for use.

Most entrepreneurs have voluntarily removed errors. The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection initiated proceedings in five cases.

Kit has provided a number of advice to users on what to look for when buying and using reflective materials.

Watch out for gadgets. Companies often give out accessories that look like reflective elements. It is not known, however, whether they have appropriate properties, because they have undergone a conformity assessment procedure. Confirmation that the reflective element meets the requirements is the CE mark, placed directly on the reflector or the attached label.

Important information. Please note whether the manufacturer’s name and type of glare are on the packaging or label (1 – freely hanging, 2 – removable, 3 – fixed).

Instructions for use. It must be written in Polish. You will learn from it, among others how and where to fix the reflector, how to use it correctly, under what conditions do not use it and how to store it so that it does not lose its properties.

Be visible. Wear a reflector so that the headlights of the car illuminate. The lower, the better. Thanks to this, the driver will notice you in advance. Do not cover the back with a scarf or bag.

Right hand or leg. Fix reflective elements on the side of the vehicle movement. If according to regulations, you go to the left side of the road, wear a reflective band on your right hand or leg.

Check the condition of the reflective elements. If sewn on the clothing or backpack with reflective tape, for example in washing, replace it. If water got into the plastic reflective elements, buy a new one because the old one lost its properties due to the moisture.

Policemen handed out vests to pedestrians

Police officers from around the region distributed the reflective vests to unprotected road users on Monday. As part of the “Reflective Commune” campaign, they distribute reflective elements, meet with residents and ensure that it is worth being visible.

Policemen from the command during intensified actions looked not only at the behavior of pedestrians on the road, but also in the direction of pedestrians. For those moving along the road without a visible reflection, they passed on reflective vests. They made the pedestrians aware of how important the health and life of the pedestrians are in a prominent place. The policemen promoted the habit of wearing safety clothing not only outside the built-up area, but also in the built-up area.

During Monday’s intensified actions, police officers revealed more than 40 offenses committed by pedestrians and by pedestrians towards pedestrians. The most frequent offenses committed by pedestrians were crossing the road in a forbidden place, walking on the wrong side of the road, not using the traffic light. A few of the pedestrians were also punished for failing to comply with the provisions on the obligation to move along the road after dark outside the built-up area with a visible retro-reflective material.

A kayak with high-visibility colors and reflective material

Coast Guard crews were notified early Sunday morning that a 55-year-old kayaker had left from Bear Creek ramp near Hoboken and was late on his return time.

A crew from Station Hoboken and a helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City launched to help search efforts with North Carolina Wildlife, Pamlico County Sheriff’s department and Pamlico County Emergency Management personnel.

The Pamlico Emergency Management boat crew located the kayaker with his kayak partially submerged. The kayaker was found without any working means of communication, reflective vest, high-visibility colors or reflective material on kayak. The man was also suffering from cold and wet exposure.

The man was transferred to local EMS and released shortly after.

“Wearing a safety clothing while out on the water may be the difference between life and serious injury or death in an emergency,” Cmdr. Matt said. “Kayakers should also carry a VHF-FM radio and a cell phone in a waterproof container to alert authorities quickly if assistance is needed.”
