Departure abroad – keep reflective vest for safety

Last year, 69% of Poles went on holiday by car. The comfort of this means of transport, but it is worth remembering that before leaving, check the technical condition of the vehicle. This depends not only on the road safety, but also on our safety.

The key issue is the technical condition of the car. Pay attention to the braking system – check the brake discs, the pads, and the fluid level. It is precisely the maintenance of the proper values of operating fluids that is essential for maintaining the vehicle in the best possible efficiency.

In addition to the brake fluid (and assistants), pay attention to the cooling liquid. Just stop in the traffic jam so our engine will overheat. The fluid should not be more than three years old, but if you notice small defects, you can save a bit of distilled water. It is important to remember that alcohol (from the previously poured liquid) represents at least half of the liquid in the cooling system. If you are already buying a liquid, do not suggest a color, but find out if our agent has inorganic (IAT) or organic (OAT) additives. These liquids cannot be mixed with each other.

Equally important is the oil level. To properly check its level you need to set your car flat, horizontal plane. After a few minutes of turning off the engine, remove the oil dipstick, wipe with a reflective cloth or tissue, and then reinsert it. When the oil is removed again, it should leave a trace on the dipstick indicating its current level. If we notice spills, you have to go to the workshop to check the situation.

You cannot forget the tires – check the damage and the tread before going on the road. According to regulations, the tread should not be shallower than 1.6 mm. However, it is assumed that the replacement of summer tires with new ones should be made when the tread depth falls below 3 mm, and also when the rubber is old enough to threaten the correct adhesion to the substrate. Equally important is the pressure. It’s best to check those two weeks before your trip and after a week check to be sure again. If within a week the pressure has changed, then the sign that you should go to vulcanize. You can also – if we have a place in the trunk – give up the tire sealing fluid for the wheel.

If you are planning a holiday abroad, you should check the applicable regulations and make up accessories above the minimum required in Poland, which is a warning triangle and fire extinguisher. First aid kit, reflective vest, spare bulbs – it’s on Polish roads additional equipment that you can carry in your car for your own and other safety and comfort.

First aid kit is required in almost every European country. Before traveling far, it is worth to verify its content. Just like having reflective vests that should match the number of passengers, or at least adults, and be in the car, not in the trunk. According to the Vienna Convention on Traffic, the police in a given country should not be punished with the driver’s license, which is equipped according to Polish law. Nevertheless, proper preparation and possession of a tow rope, lever, key, spare wheel or bulbs will avoid discussions with law enforcement officials in Slovakia, where the requirements in this respect are particularly high. We have written more about the requirements in each country.

Motorcyclists denounce craters on roads

Motorcyclists are tired of dodging the huge gaps that fill the roads, and represent a serious safety problem even they wear the safety reflective clothing, especially for drivers of two-wheeled vehicles. Therefore, representatives of more than 15 groups of motorcyclists did not rule out reaching the Capitol if the government does not listen to their claims to attend to the poor conditions of the roads.

Among the officials who called for dialogue, is Governor Ricardo, who was sent a letter explaining the situation. The same request was made to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP), Carlos Contreras.

As an initial measure, motorcyclists are painting with paint the gaps on the tracks to alert drivers about where the craters are. They also asked that they work with the curb on the roads as well as with light signs that at night warn of the dangers. First Hour had a meeting with dozens of bikers among those who had several who recover from road accidents. According to motorcyclist Rafael Villella, in the last three weeks there have been reported about eight accidents of companions.

“We are concerned about the large number of accidents in recent years, including the death of colleagues, due to poor and precarious road conditions. This is uncontrollable because it is in the whole country, “said Georgia Rivera, leader of the Bikers Undoes Boricua (BUB) movement, which carries out social work throughout the year. The promoter of the meeting said that their passion is “to ride on two wheels, but many, like the police and the messengers, use their engines to work, and all are exposed to accidents.”

After asking to be heard by the government, Rivera mentioned that when a motorcycle owner buys the tag “we are required $ 10 additional, supposedly for improvements of polygons and for us to have continuous education on road safety.”

In the Island there is a single polygon to take the license (M-1) to drive motor.

“We do not put up with the situation anymore. The government requires shoes, reflective tape, glasses, safety helmet, etc., and now the fines will increase. If they demand of us, we are in demand. We are not asking for anything other than for national security, which is involved in this, “warned Rivera.

Magalia Delgado, president of the group “Los Realigns”, came to the meeting with her arms plastered after the 2 April had an accident.

“I was driving on the express 52 and already, at the height of the Medical Center, I feel that the motor starts to get out of control. When I straightened it I fell into a hole and the motor rose. There I lost consciousness, “said the woman who has been driving for ten years.

To avoid passing over to Delgado, Lopez lowered the engine but both fell rolling on the floor. Frodo resulted in blows to his knees and body.

Pedro Penrose, a member of Los Realigns, accompanied the group in a bus when he noticed that the road seemed “a washboard. Her engine started jumping. ”

He said that when the motorboat picked up the hole, it continued running and the woman was suspended in the air. Then Delgado “fell face down, did not move … When I called for the third time with all my soul, there as she took a breath and began to breathe. It was a pretty strong impression, “he said excitedly.

Delgado also has blows to the knees and elbow, and bruises all over the body.

Meanwhile, Rivera warned that if the government does not take action they will go to the Capitol.

“We’re being forced to make it to the Capitol to make some kind of pressure. We will be parking the motor to the front and if they do not listen to us, we will have to copy the circumference of the Capitol until somebody attends to us, “he said.

“We are going to go climbing, climbing until we achieve our purpose. It is not asking for us, it is road safety for all of Puerto Rico, “he reiterated.

Andrés Cruz Lama, president of the Latin American Motorcycle Association (LAMA) said that what they demand “is not that they pave all roads. The first thing is to stop all those gaps. Then they have to keep doing their job. “

Foreign vacation on your own with safety

In 2016, Czechs made 5,552,000 private trips abroad. For longer trips abroad went half the time in a car or on a motorcycle, in short, it was even 78 percent. How to attend a foreign holiday on your own, if possible without any problems of road safety?

Longer routes (that is associated with at least four nights) was 4,276,000, short (one to three nights), then 1 276 000. For longer trips abroad went out at 48 percent of the passenger car or motorcycle, 14 percent on board the bus. On shorter trips set off on your own even in 78 percent of cases, another 12 percent chose the bus.

Also this year, the summer starts out millions of Czechs on your own to spend at least part of their holiday to some foreign destination. What do you do to make the journey and stay as smooth as possible without major complications? We recommend that you pay attention to the following areas:

Roadworthiness

In addition to checking the technical condition of the vehicle it is also important to remember to recheck its mandatory equipment and its eventual completion, depending on which country we are heading. I remember a sufficient number of reflective vests. At least one jacket (for the driver) is placed into the vehicle cabin.

What to bring

Indeed, it is not wrong to at least two or three days before leaving to write what all of them have to take on holiday – will need to be on medication, also check the validity of credentials or license.

Luggage and storing

Space vehicles are limited options, as well as its capacity. Vacation is therefore good to take with them only really necessary. “At the bottom of the luggage compartment store luggage is the greatest and most difficult. Conversely hand, we have everything we need for the necessary paths. Also – for sure – warning triangles, medical and reflective vests for occupants “specifies Roman Boesky Team road safety.

Do not forget the important documents

What not to forget? When traveling within the EU sufficient valid identity card, a driver must carry a valid driving license. Do not forget the health insurance card and any cost of medical care. And take along a green card and record of the accident. It is certainly worthwhile to check whether we have current telephone numbers of our health insurance and the insurance company with which we have insured their vehicle. It is also good to clarify what we are due to motor vehicle insurance claim – such a free assistance with towing or failure in the event of an accident. In case of serious complications it is best to have the phone number of the Czech Embassy in the country.

The driver must be fit

The driver must be fit. Now it depends on how far the journey safe and pleasant. And during the ride to remember to take regular breaks. Say every 2 and half hours, twenty minutes of rest will not hurt. Beware of fatigue. Its effect is similar to that of alcohol. Heavily tired driver is just as dangerous as the one who just drank two shots of hard liquor. The probability of causing fatal accidents increased 7 xs. “Fatigue is responsible for up to 10 percent of all accidents on motorways are up to 20%. The most dangerous is the period from midnight till four o’clock in the morning. Fewer however, to know that we can surprise and fatigue during the day – usually between the second and four o’clock in the afternoon, “says Roman. If at all possible, it is good for long journeys behind the wheel turns.

Travel must be safe and restful

I journey to the longed-for destination and it is part of our vacation. So why not enjoy it properly? For all should take place comfortably and safely. Passengers should remember that it is the driver, in whose hands their lives and health. “In any case, it is good to reckon with the possibility that stuck in a traffic jam. Therefore, it is good to always have enough fuel in the tank in the cab for something to eat and drink enough. Any aggression can only exacerbate the situation, “says Roman with wear a safety vest.

Car Exam of drivers for road safety

Car Modified Exam. A legislative initiative submitted to the Senate provides for the introduction of new first aid samples in traffic, keep the road safety.

If it is approved by the Senate and then the Chamber of Deputies, which is the decision-maker, will be the project signed by 31 MPs, it would complement the 1952 Government Emergency Ordinance 195/2002 on the introduction of two new items aligned to the article Number 23:

– “In order to obtain the driving license, the candidates have the obligation to carry out during the theoretical and practical training activities and to promote a first aid course in traffic”.

– “The program, the modalities of organizing and developing the first aid course in traffic, the list of authorized centers for theoretical and practical training and practice and the promotion scale are established and updated by joint order of the Minister of Health and the Minister of Internal Affairs”.

Currently, concepts of first aid in traffic in the event of an accident are included in the theoretical exam for obtaining a driving license.

The life of an injured person depends, to a large extent, on the moment of first aid and on the understanding of the person who first intervenes at the scene of the accident. Basic first aid is just temporary emergency relief to save life, prevent further complications and relieve suffering until an appropriate medical service can intervene.

The four steps in giving first aid

Situations in which first aid is needed may be very different, but first aid providers will need to take four steps, regardless of the situation.

The four important steps are:

  1. Taking safety precautions.
  2. Assessing the victim’s state.
  3. Requesting help.
  4. Getting First Aid.

Taking safety measures in the event of a road accident

Indications for first aid:

Always follow the Road Code.

Gradually reduce speed and do not brake suddenly as you approach the scene of the road accident.

Stop the car in a safe place, on the refuge, on the roadside or outside.

Put your reflective vest.

Use warning signs (such as the reflective triangle) to alert those approaching the scene of the accident.

Do not try to cross a highway.

Pay attention to the electrical cables on the floor and make sure that no one approaches these cables and they are not touched.

Try to prevent a possible fire by stopping the electrical contact of the vehicles involved in the accident and not allowing anyone to smoke in the immediate vicinity.

Please note that the airbags that have not activated can suddenly swell.

Try to immobilize the injured vehicles by pulling the handbrakes.

Emergency removal of the victim

As a general rule, you should not move the victim from the scene of the accident unless the danger is imminent and cannot be controlled, if safety measures cannot be taken and only if you do not expose yourself to any danger. If necessary, move the victim to the nearest safe place.

If the victim is conscious, explain what you are going to do and ask her to cooperate. If possible, immobilize the neck of the victim while traveling. Turn as little as possible the neck, head and body of the victim.

Try to apply the correct techniques, even if the victim’s movement is the number one priority.

Protect the victim from cold or heat, but move it only if it has been too cold and if this can have serious consequences. Cover the victim with a coat or blanket to protect it from cold. You can also use a thermo-insulating blanket.

To protect the victim from heat, make shade with a reflective jacket, blanket or umbrella or just sit down so that you shade with your own body.

Everyone involved has to put reflective vest

There is not one day, and especially on weekends and public holiday’s periods, which may not occurred road accidents resulting in deaths and injuries, keep road safety is important. Beyond the statistics absolutely horrendous and unacceptable for various reasons, another reality regrind-ability does not decrease the number of victims: most drivers do not know how they should react after such an undesirable event. And, unfortunately, negative graphs grow every year.

In case of accident, the first step should become reflex: call emergency number 112. Experts warn, however, that in fact a triad of elements is to follow in the shortest possible terms: protection, alerting help. Placing protection even before the alarm is motivated by the need to avoid so-called supra accident (chain accidents caused by the first), which could be worse than the “basic”. Everyone involved has to put reflective vest, to report the accident within a reasonable distance before the site of the impact, then retire to a safe place and only then to call for help, which will determine as accurately as possible what happened.

These aids may be specialized medical teams, the cars of extrication, fire etc. They can even guide him through phone call to make first steps necessary – say, first aid for victims – as appropriate. Very important it is that the caller not to hang up until they call the dialed aid.

Removing or maintaining injured / damaged vehicle depends on the concrete situation, the type of lesion etc. Of course, the victim should not be immobilized useless because – for example – may have fractured spine. In contrast, some wounds require special emergency intervention (stopping of bleeding, cardiac massage and others), for that person to survive until the arrival of the ambulance, I Note so few that can extend unpredictable.

These include brief information as a message is clear: each driver must wear safety vest, at least once, to attend a first aid in case of accident. Lack of legislation profile so far from us, such a provision is currently in legislative attention novel.

Road Safety Day to celebrate World Bicycle Day

Carbon eras today celebrated the World Day of the Bicycle with an educational seminar on road safety through play, given by the local police of the municipality and which have involved about a hundred young people from the three schools.

The program falls under the umbrella of “Carbon eras Values” aims to teach children the municipality behaviors to be good citizens, future drivers and users of public roads, in order to minimize situations risk as pedestrians and drivers, keep safety vest on road for safety. The program launched since 2011, has the support of the company Mottos Nieto.

Different activities

Young people who have come by bicycle from their schools, have participated in different activities like chatting on signage and bicycle safety, a fun gymkhana and the workshop on the parts of the bike and how to repair a wheel when you or leaves you click the bicycle chain.

The consistory gave all participants reflective vest children to use their cycling.

This activity, which coincides with the International Bicycle Day, is part of the activities listed in the “Carbon eras Values” program, an initiative of the City Council in coordination with all municipal technical services that aims to develop prevention campaigns and awareness from all social and educational fields.

Caring more about road safety in autumn

The seasonal change from summer to autumn brings not only cooler weather, but for all participants of road traffic also means a shift to the changing weather conditions. “In deteriorating light and visibility should not only be adjusted motorists, but especially pedestrians and cyclists,” warns Gerri Hendricks, road safety consultant to the police station Leer Emden.

Motorists should change from October from summer to winter tires. Even if there is no snow, offer winter tires in cooler weather and wet roads significantly better adhesion values than summer tires. Other dangers are imminent due to wet leaves on the road. “A forward-looking and adapting your driving style with reduced speed to avoid slipping on the road,” advises Hendricks. “It is also necessary to let check the lighting and fill antifreeze with the beginning of autumn.” Motorists can check the lighting system of the vehicle in many specialized workshops for free.

Motorists need to adapt not only back on driving in fog, rain and darkness, but also expect more with wildlife collisions. The recommendation is: “Who is on the road or in forest areas on the way, so you should reduce speed and keep the road in mind.”

For cyclists and pedestrians the slogan “Security through visibility” is valid in the dark season. This should just parents of elementary school students make sure their children wear reflective clothing to school and the bikes always are in a roadworthy condition.

The law the following features it: two independent brakes for the front and rear, headlights and tail light optionally in the dynamo, battery or battery operation, the front white and rear red reflector, pedal reflectors, two “cats eyes” per wheel or reflective strips on the tires as well as a bright sounding bell.

In recent weeks since the start of school traffic controls were carried out on the school routes by the officials of the police station already increased. Here, important shortcomings on such as the lighting of bicycles have already noticed. Also in the next few weeks appropriate priority and lighting controls are carried out among others at the primary schools in the whole area of the police station. Police in reflective vest will control this case.

Manuel suspends the reflective cuff: return on a flop

The bikers will not have to wear a Reflective tape on January 1. The interior minister, Manuel Valla, announced on 27 November at the launch of the new National Road Safety Council Phew, ‘Decree cuff “is suspended!

The Interior Minister, Manuel Valla, announced at a press conference on November 27, following the first meeting of the National Road Safety Council (NSRF), it comes to reform after 4 years of interruption. The French Federation of biker’s angry (FFMC) shows relieved and highlights the vision of the Minister, who wants “assessment of the device”.

Doubt about the interest of the measure.

The least we can write is that Manuel Valla does not seem to consider that 150 cm2 retro-reflection on the arm will save bikers: “I have asked that a dialogue be committed on the retro-reflective equipment“, he has explained to reporters. “Pending proposals, I asked to suspend the provisions initially selected on the cuff”.

Poland imposes yellow vest to pedestrians

Yes, you read correctly. In Poland, it will soon wear a reflective vest around on foot. Specifically, a project under discussion in law in the Polish Parliament provides that persons traveling by night, and outside cities, will wear the famous expensive vest (or not) to Karl Lagerfeld, or other clothing with stripes reflective. The text, adopted on 13 June by the Diet (equivalent of the National Assembly), has yet to be considered by the Senate and could come into force by the end of the year.

This amendment to the Highway Traffic Act proposed by the Liberal government of Donald Tusk and voted unanimously, is the only measure found by deputies to respond to road hazards affecting the country. Polish roads are among the most dangerous in Europe, as recalled this article from The Economist. “Poland has a mortality rate on the road to 110 million, almost double the European average (60), and even pathetic in relation to the United Kingdom (30)”, tells the British liberal weekly.

These traffic fatalities are mostly motorists but also among them cyclists or pedestrians. He regularly comes to speeding drivers tomb to open narrowly avoid nobody journeying on making sidewalk office. The night, which starts at 15 hours in the winter, the risks are even higher. We move on foot of a small town to the other, after drinking a glass of beer or even vodka, or just you come home after a day’s work.

The yellow vest, presented as a comprehensive insurance by his supporters, yet does not please everyone. The journalist Kowalski published on his blog, an article that rebels against this omnipotence granted to the automobile. The text has been seen more than 100,000 times and generated hundreds of comments, most hostile to “oblivious pedestrians”.

Speed drunk. Rather than encourage motorists to respect the limits speed, ask radar or speed bumps or establish a technical inspection of vehicles, we choose to defer responsibility for accidents on pedestrians. In other words, if a pedestrian not wearing a yellow vest is reversed, at night and in the countryside, it will be possible to exempt the driver from responsibility, even if he hurtled at high speed and with alcohol in blood… Poland does not have, like France with the Baiter Act 1985, a law considering the driver responsible when his motorized object is involved in an accident.

“After the entry of the country into the European Union in 2004, European funds were used to build beautiful roads on which we got used to driving fast, well beyond the 90 km / h permitted” recounts Olivier Schneider, a French-Polish activist ( his blog here, in Polish ) who writes a column on transport on the FM radio . “The car is still queen in Poland,” says the activist. There are some months when the government of Warsaw has proposed radar installations on Polish roads, most of the political parties themselves up against it “draconian”. Radar in areas where we have already seen accidents, perhaps, they claimed in essence, but not willing to chance on the roads.

The debate on road safety and the place of the automobile in society causes, in Poland as elsewhere, lively discussions. In Warsaw or Krakow, battalions of police verbalize pedestrians suddenly fines of 100 zlotys (€ 25) passing through the red light or outside zebra crossings. Regularly, the opportunity of a driving license for cyclists or pedestrians even comes up.

Road safety – Balance of five days of road checks

A significant slowdown from the A68 to exit Gaelic was caused by a magnitude control nature of gendarmes Sunday Ascension bridge back tonight. Hundreds of controlled and few offenses vehicles.

The figures for road safety early this year are quite encouraging but still fragile. Three killed are to be deplored against twelve last year at the same time. However, since the beginning of the year, a slight increase in injury accidents is recorded (41 against 39) and injuries (61 against 58).

To ensure the safety of users on the roads of the Tarn and encourage caution, the gendarmes of the Tarn gendarmerie group increased by 24% the road police and 22% speed controls with interception at the first quarter of 2016. 208 retentions permit took place in 2015 against 142 in the same period.

Sunday evening from 18:30 to 20 hours, twenty-five soldiers in safety clothing of the company and BMO Saint conducted road checks at the roundabout Massac in the Toulouse direction in the presence of Colonel Sylvain and the director of office of the prefect of Tarn Astrid. Speed checks were carried out upstream of the control that has caused a huge slowdown on the A68 from Gaelic found.

More generally, these are 340 personnel of the Tarn gendarmerie group who took turns on the roads of the department during the Ascension Bridge 4 to 8 May It was conducted with 106 speed controls interception 36 speed checks (automated sanction control) and 282 services “Police road.”

In terms of offenses, Tarn military statement 74 speeding with intercepting retentions 4, 213 speed control in automated sanction (CSA) also conducted 15 blood alcohol retentions which 7 and 6 lines in narcotics, including 6 retentions.

On the five days of tighter controls were also sanctioned 16 refusal priority, 9 phone use findings driving and 18 faults of security equipment.

Since the beginning of the year, special attention will be paid to the fight against dangerous behaviors including alcohol and drug, speeding and failure to comply priorities. Indeed, alcohol and speed are the main causes encountered in crashes, and 10% of accidents are due to the priority rules offenses.

By 2020, the objective set by the government is to go under the 2000 deaths per year. It is necessary to remember that in 1973, the peak of road deaths was reached with 18 000 deaths. If these figures give an idea of the extent of progress since they also recall that ensuring safety on the roads is a long-term work that requires the investment of each.

Before starting the car and motorcycle

For cars – Check the pressure and the tire condition. Control devices and condition of liquids: water, oil, brake, battery… Make good visibility, wash the windshield. Have your brakes checked.

For bikers – Check equipment approved helmets and visors. Certified garment provided with retro-reflective strip.

During the trip, put your seat belt, do not answer the phone, do not drink alcohol before leaving, 30% of accidents are due to excessive consumption, do not go if you are tired and take breaks every two hours, drowsiness is the first cause of accidents on highway, observe the speed limits and safety distances and make sure your medicines for driving.

Finally, careful, reflective vest and warning triangle are required.
