3 tips for running in the dark

Especially in winter, when the sun rises late, sets early and there is summer time, it is inevitable to go out in the dark, or in poor lighting conditions. And unfortunately there is not always a way to run on exclusive tracks for runners and closed to traffic: we often end up running on the street and on the sidewalks with the consequent dangers given by the traffic of cars and motorcycles.

When you go out running in the dark it is essential to think first of all about your safety, trying to be as visible as possible. In at least three ways.

  1. Use clothing with reflective materials

Especially in the winter running clothing lines all brands now include reflective tapes or fluorescent colors at will: look for those with the highest high visibility surface (and obviously forget uniformly colored jackets and tight).

  1. It especially highlights moving parts

Put yourself in the shoes of a motorist absorbed in his thoughts: he will see you better, first and more clearly if he sees something illuminated moving on his horizon. Then add reflective bands to legs, arms and if you can even to shoes (you can also use reflective tape on the heel).

  1. Use intermittent lights

For the same reason, intermittent lights will more easily catch the attention of a motorist than fixed lights: so ok the headlamp, but also hold a torch, or attach a small light bulb to the forearm, and put them in intermittent mode.

First graders know how to stay safe on the road

September 29 students from the first grades of Primary School No. 4 Nicolas Copernicus participated in the “Safe Way to School” campaign. Police officers in safety vest carried out a well-organized action.

During the meeting, the first graders had the opportunity to check and broaden their knowledge of traffic regulations. The students were eager to answer the questions asked and listened to the lectures of police officers with interest. Everyone received reflective bands and promised to wear them always with them, especially during the evening autumn walks.

The police officers made the students a huge surprise bringing with them a large, mascot-like – POLMISIA. The children were very pleased with the presence of the mascot, who along with them set off to the streets. The students together with the police officers checked the acquired knowledge in practice. Dressed in reflective vests, they passed the belts using the current traffic rules.

The first graders also arrived, where they were greeted by the Mayor, presented with sweets and wishes for a safe road to school.

The Civil Protection “in safety” with Airbag Jacket

After the agreement with Bemba, Halite Italia is back on target. The “Moto taffeta Fruitland – Volunteer Organization” (the first Motorcycling Association associated with the Civil Protection of Friuli Venetia Giulia), equipped its motorcyclists with the airbag safety vests of the company directed in Italy by Petro.

Thanks to the support, the members of Moto Fruitland, headed by Silvia, opted for the AirNet model in the High Visibility version, characterized by a predominantly fluorescent yellow with reflective bands, and personalized on the back with the official logo of the “Civil Protection of Friuli Venetia Giulia” and previously with the symbol of the Friuli Moto.

In the event of a fall or accident with your two wheels, the Halite airbag will cushion the impact, stiffen the torso and spine, limiting the rotation of the helmet in all directions and reducing the risk of injury and compression of the cervical vertebrae. The airbag inflates on the chest, the sides, the neck, the cervical spine and on the whole column in just 10 hundredths of a second!

A confirmation that even in times of crisis, the best investment is in security. If we calculate the public costs due to motorbike and scooter road accidents and the costs in terms of human lives and serious injuries, it is easy to understand that it is much better to prevent rather than try to remedy, as far as possible.

Why we need to wear reflective vest

Do motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians have to wear the reflective vest? It was one of the questions you answered Andrés Gomez-Lobo in DNA testing.

Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Andrés Gomez-Lobo spoke with Andrea and José Antonio Name on the use of reflective vest, whose possession in the car is compulsory from the first of January, this 2016 that is just beginning.

The head of the portfolio answered some of the questions that have resonated more recent days:

Why yellow vest?

“The reason for that is because it is a color that is very visible day” and “night, which is retro reflective bands are having,” said Gomez-Lobo.

Does the use is mandatory or only available in the car?

“We must carry a reflective vest as part of the emergency kit, and this vest must be accessible from inside the cabin of the car , ” said the Minister, explaining that it is not necessary to take hung in the passenger seat, but take visible it might be useful to show that the device actually possessed.

Do motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians should use it?

“Now each other always recommend that pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, who are particularly vulnerable on the roads, use a reflective element and hopefully the safety vest,” he said.

Safety vest – So children are seen even in darkness and bad weather

The cold season begins and it brings mainly cloudy and poor visibility with it. Children are on the road to the most vulnerable road users. They are particularly vulnerable if they are not sufficiently “visible” to other road users.

To be seen better in rain, fog or twilight, children should wear bright, high-contrast clothing. The trade offers – pretty handy – even jackets with reflective tape on. For jackets or west without incorporated reflectors reflective designs can subsequently ironed for little money. Also good choices are reflective bands that can be worn around wrists and ankles, and if necessary can be applied quickly and find any jacket pocket.

For children who are traveling by bicycle, there are even bicycle helmets that shine. Should not be forgotten, the control of lights and reflectors on the wheel, which are used frequently in the dark season. Because: Especially with the battery after a long summer, where the lights were not needed, suddenly empty.

The school knapsacks have also reflective areas. If these are with stickers, they do not serve the traffic safety. The classic mounted on jacket or bag, are often lost. This has also Ulrike, principal of elementary school found: “tear off quickly.”

Therefore, there is for the first year of school for several years now bright yellow west from ADAC hooded. They are not only quite loud and clearly visible on a few meters distance from other road users; they also have reflective strips and look pretty from. The following is the I-males. “The vests are cool”, the students have found. Class teacher Cornelia has distributed the fluorescent jackets a few days ago in its class. Almost all of the 20 children are wearing the reflective vest every day. The traffic safety training at the elementary school they become real little traffic detectives. And so it should ultimately be in the best case.
