Reflexes for seniors on the occasion of Grandma’s Day

On the occasion of Grandma’s Day, policemen and city guards in Szczecin distributed the reflective wristbands which made of reflective materials to the seniors. The officers emphasize that this is an opportunity to make older people aware of how to safely navigate around the city.

“This grandmother’s Day and tomorrow’s Grandfather’s Day was an excuse to meet the seniors once again, remind them of caution on the road, to always look around before we enter the road,” said Karolina from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Szczecin.

“We also provide reflective elements to light our seniors a bit, but of course, we remind you that this reflective tape is only an addition, our caution is the most important when moving on the way,” added the officer.

Residents of the city were positive about the action. Many of them admitted that thanks to reflections, it feels safer on the road.

A fatal accident for Pulaski. Audi a3 hit a man

The policemen together with the prosecutor, explain the causes and circumstances of the tragic accident that occurred on Pułaskiego Street. From the preliminary findings of the police from the traffic department, it appears that the driver of the A3 Audi struck a man passing through the pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian died on the spot.

“The event happened today at around 6.00 on Pułaskiego Street in Częstochowa. From the preliminary findings of the police from the traffic department, it appears that the A3 driver driving towards the Monte Cassino Heroes alley hit a man passing by at the height of the PKP Stradom station by a pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian died on the spot. The 38-year-old driver was sober,” says Marta Landowska, spokeswoman of the Municipal Police Headquarters.

Czestochowa police appeal to road users to wear reflective vests.

“Using reflective materials especially in autumn and winter, when it’s dark early and visibility is definitely worse, it can save our lives. Therefore, wearing reflectivevetss by pedestrians should become a habit. According to the Road Traffic Law, pedestrians who move along the road after dark outside the built-up area are obliged to use reflective elements in a visible way for other road users,” says Marta Landowska.

“Correctly worn reflective elements should be placed in such a place that they are in the field of car lights and visible to drivers coming in from both directions (back and front). If you attach a reflective tape to the backpack (on the back of the silhouette) it is obvious that it will not be noticed by drivers coming from the opposite direction and vice versa when the reflection will be only in front, the driver behind us will not see him. It is safe to have two reflective elements one at the front and the other at the back or use such types of reflectors that can be seen from both sides, for example, reflective bands,” adds Landowska.

“Clothes should work under all kinds of weather conditions and for exposed occupational categories within eg. energy and rail, it is of utmost importance to dress right inside and out. The importance of using the right protective clothing is self-evident and can, in the event of accidents, reduce or eliminate burns and even deaths,” says Per, operational manager of the business unit protective clothing.

Police officers focused on pedestrian behavior and alcohol among drivers

Pedestrian behavior and compliance with the prohibition of drinking alcohol before driving with drivers. In the past few days, police officers in the Yakut Hora region have focused on these two important points of operation within traffic safety events.

“The actions were based on precautionary measures to ensure road safety and smoothness, in an effort to reduce persistent discipline and the number of road accidents on the roads under alcohol. Since the beginning of this year, Yakut Hora’s traffic police officers have saved ten cases of traffic accidents, when the culprit was affected by an addictive substance, ”said police spokeswoman Vendetta Markov.

The police checked a total of 189 vehicles and imposed 25 fines totaling CZK 6300. For example, it was not wearing a seat belt, not marking a pedestrian with reflective material, or an unsuitable technical condition of the vehicle. In one case, it was driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

For pedestrians, events focus mainly on locations where they are expected to move on roads outside the community. “Reflective vests with reflective tapes are important in low visibility. It is the pedestrian’s visibility that greatly influences whether the driver avoids pedestrians, ”the spokeswoman said.

A new system to avoid road crashes

The DGT proposes a new system of flashing sirens for vehicles damaged on the shoulder.

There are a number of measures to take into account when we have an accident and you have to stop the car on the side of the road. Actions such as putting on the reflective vest, use the safety triangles, one in front and one behind, and place them at least 50 meters from the vehicle so that they are visible to other cars at a distance of at least 100 meters. However, these precautions may be obsolete from the past because the DGT wants to change these triangles by a siren that the driver of the vehicle can place on his car only by extending the arm. A measure that could begin to be implemented in 2020 to be mandatory in 2025 and that aims to prevent 20 deaths in 2018 because of signaling an accident on the highway or highway.

They are called “rotary” and will be flashing, so they will not emit any sound, in addition to being stored in the glove compartment, instead of the trunk. Mario Ronald, president of the European Automobile Associate has detailed us in the afternoon of COPE why they think this is a good measure. According to Ronald is “a change is necessary and had to be made many years ago.” And since European Automobile Associates have protested the current system of vests and triangles since its implementation: “was being given a message of insecurity and dangerous because it created the Superman effect: if you put on the vest with reflective tapes you seem immune.” Instead, they say, “the message that had to be conveyed was: if you are broken, try to take the car off the road by all means, because a vehicle in the middle of the road is a very dangerous obstacle.”

On these 20 deaths in the last year and in the previous ones, Ronald regrets that there have been “accidents that have been carried ahead even to agents of the Civil Guard”. The president of the European Social Drivers also remembers that “the protection of passengers is important”. “How absurd that only one vest with reflective fabric was required, but not for passengers,” concludes Mario Ronald.

Overcome the inner bastard

“Humans do not readily accept unpleasant things,” explains Oliver Atoll, Professor of Sport Psychology at the Martin Luther University Battenberg. Because of course, you prefer to move in good weather. With these tips, you can also catch up in the winter – and do healthy sports:

Set goals and talk about it

A good way is to set goals. These can be athletic ones like “In the spring I participate in a marathon” or even personal ones like “I want to lose three kilos over the winter”. The more concrete the goals, the better. Anyone who talks about it with friends and family is committed to living up to their own expectations. “The goal should be so strong in the focus that the weather does not matter,” explains Atoll. It can also help to visualize your goals, for example on small notes.

Create routines

Another trick to motivation is routines. This can be a fixed calendar appointment for the gym or a running group to meet for sports. “Working out together is better in the winter: you are not alone, and it does not matter if it is floor-deep,” says personal trainer Lars Humanness from Dortmund.

Inner and outer motivation

Even small goodies can help to rise from the cozy couch. For example, a sauna after running. In this case, one speaks of extrinsic motivation. It is better, however, if one sees the activity itself as a reward. “The intrinsic motivation is the strongest we know,” says Atoll. The problem: There are no recipes. Only those who have fun and recognize a sense in the movement is really motivated from the inside out.

Look at the benefits

Sport not only keeps you fit and your body healthy – it also lifts the mood. This is particularly important in the dark season, when some are depressed and listless, says extreme athlete Peter Bathrobe. Regular exercise also strengthens the immune system in the cold season. And the cool air makes the head free in case of doubt.

Do not exaggerate

Anyone who is full of energy in the winter should still not be reckless. Because of the temperature differences inside and outside, the risk of cold is increased.

Tighten properly

If you want to do sports outdoors in winter, you need the right equipment. “Windbreakers are practical, plus functional clothing and a neck warmer that can be pulled over the chin and nose,” recommends personal trainer Lars Humanness. On the shoes, small spikes can prevent slipping. And to be recognizable in the dark, in the opinion of the expert, a headlamp and bright, reflective clothing are recommended. Incidentally, if you acquire good equipment, you can directly commit yourself to use it.

In the dark, it is best to wear reflective tapes or a reflective vest.

Choose the right workout

“Loose running training is useful,” says personal trainer Humanness. The units should be slower than in the summer. Interval training is rather inappropriate, says Peter Bathrobe. Even exercises with your own body weight are possible. “An important factor is that you do not need a lot of material,” says Humanness. Because then you overcome yourself more easily.

Fatal deduction of a man

A tragic road accident occurred yesterday (19 March) near Lowe Busy (Pampas commune). There, the Opel driver hit a 39-year-old man who died on the spot. He walked correctly, but he was not wearing a reflective vest with reflective fabric. The causes of the tragedy will be explained by the police investigation.

The accident occurred at 22.30 on the road Lowe Busy – Jenkins (W527). There, a 32-year-old people driver, on a straight stretch of road, hit a 39-year-old man. The pedestrian died on the spot. Initial findings of the police officers indicate that he was walking correctly. However, he was not wearing a reflective vest with reflective tapes. As it turned out, he had her hidden in a backpack. The police investigation will explain all the details of this tragedy, including whether the Opel was driving too fast. The driver was sober.

Yesterday there was also another event involving pedestrians. Around 5 pm on Neutral Street in Elbe, a 54-year-old KIA driving a car, she hit a woman with two children at a pedestrian crossing.

The 35-year-old victim passed properly. She herself suffered general body injuries, while her 3-year-old daughter suffered a fractured hand. The driver lost her rights. She was sober. Policemen investigate the circumstances of the accident and at the same time, they will apply to the road administrator to create in this place, the so-called elevated transition. The use of this type of solution means that drivers must slow down, so the risk of an accident becomes much smaller.

The Pocket of Hope Droplet is empty!

The money box in the Druthers Radiant hospital pharmacy is empty! But the target of the thief did not happen. Its content ended up in the bank account of the Kafka Nadine Endowment Fund, which donated CZK 27,110 to the pharmacy visitors and patients.

“This year we opened the box with the endowment fund logo for the third year, the selected amount being the second highest in history. The record is held in 2017 when we sent over thirty thousand reflective vests to projects that help children’s patients across the country, ”said Ego Harlan, spokesman for the Druthers Radiant Hospital.

People have accumulated nearly 75 thousand crowns in three years. Who contributed last year was entitled to a gift with a foundation fund logo in the form of reflective tape. “But, according to pharmacists, the vast majority of visitors only contributed and did not ask for a good deed,” Harlan said.

As the hospital continues its charitable project, the money box is slowly filling up again.

Two cyclists died after being hit by a SITP bus in downtown Bogota

One of the victims lasted almost a week fighting for his life, but he did not survive. Only last January, 26 bicycle users died in the country.

Juan David Escarole, one of the cyclists who died, was 31 years old. According to his relatives, he dedicated himself to creating functional bicycles. He was part of several groups of cyclists in the city.

He lost his life last Saturday after being hit by the bus when he was traveling in the seventh race with 36th Street next to his partner.

The person accompanying him was transferred to the San Ignacio hospital, where he did not manage to overcome after several days with a reserved prognosis.

On the bus driver, the chief of police of the Traffic Police, Captain Henry Castro, said that “he was transferred to Legal Medicine where he is tested for drunkenness and discarded. Subsequently, he is left as a suspect before the Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of murder. ”

Authorities remember the need for all road actors to respect traffic rules, including cyclists, who must move around authorized areas and wear a helmet and reflective vest with reflective tapes.

Public danger on the road

A step of tragedy on the road connecting Soroptimist to Buzzards. Two men and three horses were hit by the car on Thursday evening after the driver did not notice them walking on the road in the dark. The two wanted to bring the animals up to Soroptimist.

The incident occurred Thursday night, climbing the bridge at Albino. The two people bought the animals from Immigration Dragnet locality and left with them, on foot, to Immigration, in the South Railway Station area.

They were walking down the road without any reflective material. When climbing the bridge, people and animals were not seen in time due to darkness by the driver of a Dacha Logan car.

In the dark, reflective clothing and reflective tapes are very important, and even have the opportunity to save lives.

The man could not avoid them and hit the two and the horses. After the impact, one of the animals was picked up with the broken leg, and the two owners were injured, but they refused to transport to the hospital.

Immediately after the accident, the two took the animals and continued their journey to Soroptimist. But they went on the edge of the road to the South Railway Station.

Meanwhile, even at the moment when the intervention forces were on the scene of the first incident, a few kilometers away, another accident occurred in Emotive. There, a truck hit an unsigned carriage, and the horse that dragged him lost his life.

Fortunately, none of the incidents resulted in human casualties.
