Their claim? Say “stop hunting Sunday! ”

 

At the stroke of 10 o’clock this Sunday, October 21, nearly seventy mountain bikers almost all dressed in yellow reflective vests gathered near the fountain of the Place Grenoble recently refreshed. The reason for this gathering? The call of Florent Benzie, the organizer, posted a few days earlier on the social network Facebook.

 

A call in the form of a password. “All visible, all together” launched just after the death of Mark Sutton, a 34-year-old restaurant owner from Wales. The latter was accidentally killed by a hunter on Saturday, October 13 while he was practicing mountain biking.

The objectives of this grouping? On the one hand, saying “Stop hunting Sunday,” very clearly indicates a banner. But also show that hunting areas near cities are frequented by more and more people, and that “these natural areas must be shared safely”. However, nothing that could look like a declaration of war on hunters, Florent Benzie defends it.

 

“We just want to be able to ride safely without the hunters. If they do not want to leave Sunday, we will continue the rallies. “says the young mountain biker. That temper and does not exclude the possibility of meeting the federations and associations of hunters to make progress.

Why is Redon distributing new bins?

 

Because the move from the garbage collection tax (TEOM) at the incentive fee (IR) is approaching. Specifically, it will allow a more equitable pricing, because proportional to the service rendered, rather than the rental value of the home. For this, Redon Agglomeration changes its mode of collection.

 

This will allow him to publish a blank bill from 2019, to raise awareness. The first “real” bill of the incentive fee will be distributed in 2020.

 

How does the new system work?

For the moment, only the collection service (and not its pricing) is evolving. By the end of the year, residents of Redon will each receive a new bin for garbage, but also a new bin, which replaces the yellow bags. The latter will no longer be used since it will be necessary to put the packages in bulk in the yellow bin.

 

The size is adapted according to the number of inhabitants: for example, for one person, the gray bin will have a capacity of 120 liters and the yellow of 140 liters. For groups (7 people and more), two bins will make 660 liters.

 

When will these bins arrive?

The town of Sainte-Marie is the first to receive these new bins. Then, the others will follow. To distribute them, the agglomeration community mandated the ACP society, which recruited about twenty ambassadors (photo).

 

They will go to several thousand addresses, up to three times, between 11 am and 7:30 pm, Tuesday through Friday, or Saturday, 9 am to 2:30 pm. It will be necessary to make an appointment since, when everyone will be equipped, the old bins and yellow bags will not be collected any more.

 

Why take ambassadors?

Equipped with a yellow reflective vest and a guide to good practices, they will be able to answer residents’ questions about the new collection. Because it is not that the trash can change, but what can be put in it. Thus, the yellow bin will welcome all packaging, without exception. Including pots, trays and plastic film.

 

This will lighten the gray trash. “This is the culmination of our work to improve sorting and reduce our impact on the environment, while controlling costs,” says Yvonne Maher, vice president of waste at Redon agglomeration.

 

And the collection days?

To adapt to the implementation of individual bins, schedules and collection days will be modified to adapt to this new operation. Starting October 1st, a collection calendar will be placed in each mailbox.

Everyone knows the “men in yellow”, which ensure cleanliness in the city center and on the Rhine promenade. These are now celebrating an anniversary. For ten years, there is the garden group.

 

“Cleaning is just a task. We also cut hedges and rose beds, mow lawns, fill gravel paths and irrigate the green space. “says Peter, who heads the group. And casting the plants was a special challenge in the hot and dry summer.
