Wear reflections, it’s not embarrassing

3,5 thousand reflective vests bought by the Regional Road Traffic Center in Opole will soon be delivered to the inhabitants of the Opole region.

The action of giving them started. The police handed them over to passers-by and cyclists in Wadena, Nyssa, Opole and Strzelecki Poolside. – On the days will be also distributed in the other points – says the aspirant Karol Brandies from the press office of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole. Thanks to them, unprotected participants will be visible on the road. – Fast falling dark, fog and slippery surface, are the conditions that make cyclists and pedestrians exposed more than usual to danger – says the sub-inspector Pieter Bob from the traffic department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole.

The driver sees a pedestrian at night who is not wearing reflective clothing from a distance of about 30-40 meters. This is often too little to react in time. When the pedestrian is wearing reflections, he may notice such a man even from 150 meters.

– This gives the driver a chance to slow down and safely bypass the pedestrian or cyclist – adds Pieter Bob. In order to fulfill his role, the reflective tapes should be placed on clothing, at the height of the knees, hands, around the center of the chest or back. – Carrying them is nothing shameful – says Charles Brandies.

Before the May weekend, they handed bikers reflective vests

In connection with the upcoming long weekend, in May, the Pavia Police Headquarters together with the Municipal Office organized an action called “Safe cycling picnic “.

Soaring temperatures and beautiful sunny weather have caused many of us to leave our cars in garages and change into bicycles. For the sake of cyclists’ safety, policemen from the road club together with the Municipal Office organized the campaign “Safe cycling picnic “.

On Friday (27 April), the policemen from the road route appeared on the streets. Shovels passing on two-wheelers received reflective vests, and kids additionally shone their wristbands.

The aim of the activities is the improvement of safety on the roads of unprotected road users by increasing their visibility. The vest’s founder was the Municipal Office. Safety clothing vests were made by the head of the Road Traffic Department – poke.

The drivers of the two-wheelers did not hide their satisfaction, confirming the usefulness of such actions for security.

Pedestrians and cyclists are called unprotected participants of the movement. They are named so because during an accident they cannot count on protection of security systems, which are located erg in the car (belts, airbags, or even the body itself). As a consequence, it also means that accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists usually end tragically. They do not have much chance against cars. Unfortunately, it often happens that they do not care about their own safety, but rather is the perpetrators of accidents.

Hi vis vests greatly increase visibility, and thus our safety on the road. It should be borne in mind, however, that the reflective vest does not release from the obligation of proper lighting and bicycle equipment. The long May weekend favors the organization of family cycling trips, so it is worth going to take care of safe travel.

Safety vests for cycling training

The road safety advisors of the county police authority Unna carry out the cycle driving education with all fourth classes of the elementary schools in the circle Unna. The correct use of the bicycle is trained with the children first in the schoolyard and later also in the public traffic area. At the end of the cycling training is the bike test, after the existence of the coveted bicycle license is handed out.

Matthias, the traffic safety adviser of the police, and the elementary school children in Werner today had every reason to shine: punctually to the test-drive for the bicycle-driving license Dirk. In addition, his team from the driving school handed over 40 light vests, which from now on at the primary schools in Werner be used. The reflective vests increase the visibility of the kids, thus contributing significantly to the safety of little cyclists on our roads, especially in the darker season.

All the students wear the reflective vest

“We wear the reflective vests, we exhort the example”, “School of the Mihas for one hundred two, because it has reflections,” Reflections on my leg, candle is an example on the road “. Such and other slogans could be heard during the happening organized by the students from the Primary School at the end of their participation in this year’s “Reflective school” competition.

Pupils from grades IV to VI with their teachers went in a reflective march. Dressed in high visibility vests, carrying banners and miniatures of road signs, they promoted the wearing of reflectors by children and adults. During the march, they presented how to move on the road, cross the road, etc. Many drivers bumped with the impression and recognition…

She almost went off at the passing of children in waistcoats

Thanks to the intervention of the witness, the police established personal details and stopped the driving license for a woman who was able to divide a group of preschoolers at the pedestrian crossing.

A film was sent to the police headquarters, where a group of pre-school children equipped with reflective vests is visible, who, along with the babysitters, stops before the pedestrian crossing and then passes through the road in a designated area.

When a group of children is already on the 1/3 of the width of the road, the VW Golf goes by the road, whose driver does not stop and does not give way to the pedestrians on the lanes. If it was not for the babysitter to intervene, the children from the first pair could be under the wheels of the car.

Because the incident was very shocking, all patrols of traffic and prevention near the ill-fated passage were immediately informed about the received application and film. Shortly thereafter, one of the patrols reported to the dispatcher that he had stopped the vehicle visible on the film for inspection.

As it turned out, a 68-year-old resident of the Bolesławiec podia managed the Golf. The woman confirmed that she was at the wheel when the children passed through the reflective belts.

The driver was arrested to drive vehicles and an application for punishment was made to the court. He will decide on the fine and the fact that the woman should stop her driving license.

The best Reflective school in Lesser Poland

Primary students can be proud of themselves. They not only know how to safely navigate after dark, to be visible on the road with the high visibility vest, but also to win the title of the best “Reflective School” in the entire province.

We are pleased with the victory in the competition and at the same time, we are proud that we have made a brick to improve the safety on the way to and from school – says Megara from the University. Students from September to December under the supervision of police officers learned the rules of safety on the road. They received reflective vests and bands to be even more visible after dark. They took part in the art competition and the safety tournament.

One of the most spectacular actions of the primary school was the march through the most frequented streets. The group was in a colorful procession, carrying banners with slogans encouraging wearing reflective clothing. All participants in the happening were dressed in reflective vests. The prize for the best school in the region was money for the purchase of teaching materials. In addition, children received material prizes, as well as certificates confirming the school’s activity in the area of caring for the safety of students on their way to school.

They give out hi vis reflective clothing

Students of the School Complex with Integration Units promote the wearing of reflective clothing not only in their town and commune, but also in Krakow

Children suggest reflections to pregnant women and young mothers. The initiators of the “Visible mother – safe child” campaign were the students themselves. As the teacher Ewe, the coordinator of the “Reflective school” project, says, the students designed and made reflective pendants in the shape of joined hearts symbolizing parental love. They distributed them, among others women participating in fitness classes for pregnant women.

A group of children from this school went to the last match of Wicca. There, they received the reflections of the fans, and earlier. Reflections made by students themselves were also sent to seniors. Intergenerational workshops “Safely and fashionably” were organized, during which reflective vests (including folk motifs) were decorated.

Reflective vest is not only for children

On roads outside built-up areas after dark, you will need to wear reflective vests. Until now, this obligation concerned children up to the age of 15, now they are to be worn by all pedestrians. Police in the first weeks will only inform and admonish, but then they can punish us with a fine of up to PLN 500.

The amendment to the Act introduces an obligation according to which a pedestrian traveling along the road after dark outside the built-up area is obliged to use reflective material in a visible way for other road users, unless it moves on a road intended only for pedestrians or on the sidewalk. According to police, the new duty is to improve the safety of pedestrians. In the fall, they are very often the victims of accidents.

If the driver notices the pedestrian earlier, he is able to react faster. Driving at 80 km / h, he sees a pedestrian dressed in dark from a distance of 30-40 meters. Already one reflective material makes the pedestrian visible from a distance of 120-160 meters.

We are satisfied with this turn of events. This provision is to improve the safety of pedestrians and drivers – says communist Marvin from the Zibeline police. – At the beginning, for these few weeks, we will not punish fines. All you need is information or a reminder, as it was when the obligation to drive with the lights on was made throughout the day. Then, however, you can expect to be punished with the mandate – he adds. From September 1, police officers using the beginning of education will visit schools and remind about a new duty.

The legislator does not impose what the obligatory reflective element should look like. Most importantly, it would fulfill its function and be visible. Reflective elements may include attachments for clothing, headbands, vests, and leashes. It is important to place them: the reflectors are recommended to be placed at the level of knees, hands, around the center of the chest and back – then we will be sure that they are clearly visible to other road users.

Reflective clothing are widely available in stores and at gas stations. Their purchase is an expense of only a few zlotys. The use of glare does not require any special effort or huge financial expenses. It can save the life or health of both the pedestrian and the driver – informs the Police Information Service.

Reflective vests improve the safety of the youngest road users

180 reflective vests went to children from schools in Lemuroid and Sowing Botany. This is the result of the action organized in cooperation with three companies from the Plessey commune

The road to school for children who live in Selecta away from the city is not always safe. The youngest inhabitants sometimes have to move along the side of the road, without a road or pavement, only a hi vis vest. It is therefore important to carry out initiatives aimed at improving safety on the way of the youngest inhabitants of our commune. We decided to take this initiative – says Lukasz, the originator of the action.

Over 180 reflective safety vests were handed out. Nearly 140 went to pupils from grades I-III from ZSP in kindergarten students, and 45 to preschoolers and pupils from the 1st-3rd grade in Primary School in Sowing Botany. In both institutions, police officers also appeared, who explained to children how to behave on the road, what to avoid.

Walkers in the dark with reflective tapes only

The Senate unanimously approved an amendment that, among other things, will allow municipalities to restrict traffic. Norm also orders pedestrians to wear reflective vests outside the village if darkness or otherwise impaired visibility.

The law also allows police to withhold a small technical license in the event of a poor technical condition of the vehicle. The Senate has decided against it today, despite the efforts of some senators who wanted to take police officers the right to measure speed or to allow cyclists to ride even after drinking less alcohol. The novel, which also obliges motorists to clean vehicles from ice and from snow, if they prevent them from being out of sight, now gets the president to sign.

“The ministry of transport has a negative opinion on the proposal to drop the possibility to measure the speed of municipal vehicles by the police,” the minister of transport, Dan, told the senators. This was substantiated, inter alia, by the fact that this change was not discussed with the authorities concerned and its impact on traffic safety and radar investment in municipalities was not assessed.

He wanted to remove the right to measure the speed of the chairs of ODS senators and the Mayor of Teplice. He argued that many municipalities want only to improve their income and speed to measure outside the built-up area. He also pointed to the administration and the increase in unpaid fines, which he said last year was up to 43 million crowns.

What does the law introduce?

– Municipalities can regulate the operation of trucks

– Pedestrians can move between the villages in the dark or otherwise reduced visibility only with reflective stripes, otherwise they are liable to a fine of up to 2000 crowns

– The police can withhold a small technical card if the vehicle is in poor condition

– Motorists are obliged to clean the vehicles from ice and snow if they prevent them from looking

– the authorities can take a driving license for a half-year to the driver who crosses the railway crossing at a time when signaling works

Senate Vice-President proposed to allow cyclists, according to the Austrian model, 0.8 per mile of alcohol in the blood if they were traveling on third-class roads or cycling paths, or alternatively 0.5 per mile. He also wanted to limit the maximum penalty for alcohol for cyclists to 500 crowns. He argued that police officers often collect fines on wine-growing cycle paths. “Two wines are certainly not what threatens safety,” said Korma. However, a similar proposal by the People’s Deputy, Jixi Junk, refused to approve the amendment last December as well as the Chamber of Deputies.

The Minister of Transport has said that the responsibility for pedestrian reflective elements, such as vest or only sleeve strips, would amount to a fine of two thousand pounds. Book also said that the ministry had a deal with the police to give people more of their reflective tapes. He also announced that his office is seeking an agreement with the Czech Association of Insurance Companies to ensure the removal of non-mobile vehicles. He responded to Senator Ditka request that the government take action against overtaking.
