TCS distributes free safety vest for the little ones

For children on the pedestrian strip: Always keep it all the time.

The TCS is committed to the safety of school children: this year, the largest Swiss mobility club has distributed 80,000 safety reflective vests free of charge to all first-year children of the country. Together with the police, the TCS will again conduct sensitization campaigns for vehicle drivers. In addition, the new brochure and microfiber cleaning cloths with the logo of the “Halt veers knelt” campaign are handed out.

Start of school: School holidays are over in many places

School holidays have been going on for a few days, and now thousands of children are returning to school. Some of them are first graders, but all of them have to be well taken care of at school, in order to return home accident-free to school.

TCS distributes 80,000 safety vests free of charge. As announced at the Geneva Motor Show in the presence of German President Uele Maurer, the TCS is giving this year a safety vest for schoolchildren in Switzerland. The safety vests are printed with the silhouette of the TCS Student Loudspeaker of the 2012 “Halt veer’s bang” campaign. The high-quality vests have a hood and are visible from a distance thanks to reflective light bands. As a protective element for primary school pupils, the West complements the TCS Troikas, which are handed over every year to kindergarten teachers.

For children: Stop the vehicle completely

The TCS has been committed for years to reducing accidents on the roads and increasing safety on the way to school. Within the framework of the 2012 campaign successfully launched together with the police, the TCS is continuing the efforts to raise awareness among the road users in 2013. The campaign draws the car’s attention to the presence of the children and encourages them not only to brake as soon as children want to cross the road, but to stop the vehicle completely.

For greater traffic safety

At the beginning of the school, bands and posters will once again be shown around the country with the TCS student club as well as the slogan. In addition, the corresponding TV spot is broadcast again, in which a world is a girl on the way to school. The spot was awarded by the Swiss Art Directors Club and in June 2013 by the European Art Directors Club in the “Public Service & Charity” category.

The police employ asylum seekers in safety vest as pupils

A retired policeman formed twelve men and women with safety clothing who will work at the Escher from the beginning of school.

Asylum seekers are being employed in the student service from Bad Asch. Twelve refugees, including three women, completed an intensive training course, which was conducted in cooperation with the city police in reflective vest and the retired policeman Reinhardt Held. The Larder has already initiated such a project in several municipalities in the district.

“All efforts in the last years to find honorary officials for this task have failed,” says SP mayor Hanes Heidi. The asylum seekers are looking forward to the opportunity to work. Their area of use includes dangerous roads in the vicinity. They have an official identity card and are equipped with a safety vest and safety bar. The pilots have the right to inform and inform passengers of their duties.

“The asylum seekers can prove this way that they want to integrate into our country,” says SP-social town councilor Ines Schiller. “There are only positive feedbacks in those communities where they are already active in student rescue.”

With Uele Maurer safely across the street

Together with Federal President Uele Maurer, the TCS distributed the first of 50,000 Play-mob figures reflective products from the film “Halt vow’s ballet” at the Geneva Motor Show. The figure was developed jointly, the TCS and Jung von Matt.

Now it has been included in the official Play-mob range under product number 6096. In addition to the small males, which can be purchased exclusively in the branches of the TCS sections, more than 20 life-size figures were also produced for exhibition purposes. In addition, all 80,000 first-graders in Switzerland will be presented with a Play-mob student safety vest at the beginning of the school year. Uele Maurer has already drawn on one of the printed reflective vests at the automobile salon.

Walking to school with yellow safety vest

he children of the school were diligent. They walked to school, wearing bright warning vests. And they got stamps, very, very many stamps.

The boys and girls of the Mariel participated with great enthusiasm in the German-wide campaign “Walking to School”, initiated by the Deutschland and the German Children’s Aids Association. For two weeks the children collected many, many stamps. On the one hand, it was used for the daily wearing of the neon yellow reflective vests, and on the other hand as a reward for actively walking back to school.

At the end of the campaign exceeded all expectations, reports the Mariel: It was exactly 2397 stamps for the entire school. That was 395 stamps more than last year. And there was still an increase: even 78 children had their stamp cards filled with 20 stamps this time. As a reward and reminder, the class spokesmen were allowed to receive the documents for their classroom. The total number of all stamps was recorded on the school certificate in the entrance area.

Many children told me that the common school walk was simply nicer and even found the “queuing” when stamping great. Headmistress Angelika asked: “I hope that after this positive community experience wearing the safety vest has become a matter of course and we will continue to see many bright children in the dark season.”

New warning obligation: a warning vest is required

As of July 1, a warning vest is required in Germany. There must be a safety vest in every vehicle. Shortly before the deadline, however, 42 percent of the drivers know nothing of the new regulation, as a recent survey of the portal. Of the over 2,000 respondents, three quarters of the female (75%) and two thirds of the male vehicle owners (69%) already have a safety vest. However, more than every fourth has to be retrofitted (28%).

One reason for the poor interim balance could be that 41 percent of respondents consider the warning vest to be unnecessary. This could avenge soon, however, because who has no warning vest in the car from July 1 can be imposed a fine of 15 Euros. And those who do not wear reflective vests at an accident site even risk their insurance cover.

Light horn and too loud music: Frequent mistakes in road traffic

The red, yellow or orange vests, which have been required in other EU countries for years, are available on the Internet or at Dakar. But also many petrol stations offer warning vests. Attention: The vest must comply with the standard DIN EN 471 or the EN ISO 20471: 2013.

In a joint test of “Auto Bald” with the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Statutory Accident Insurance (IFA), it was found last year that some of the 13 tested vest ages did not meet the requirements.

Four of the tested West – from Aral – did not meet the German standard because of small reflex material or poor reflectors and received the grade “deficient.” At 10 Euros, Aral’s protective clothing was also the most expensive.

With “sufficient” and therefore likewise not to be recommended are the west of Calf and A.T.U. The “good” rating, on the other hand, was awarded six times, including the protective clothing from ADAC, Shell, Leona and Obi. Their reflex strips were properly positioned, large enough, and emitted sufficient light. The warning vest from Bauhaus was the only one that even got the grade “very good”. Available for 3.50 Euros, the test winner was also priced in the middle.

Be safer on the way to school with reflective material

For drivers, it is important to pay attention in the next few weeks. The summer holidays are over; soon the new first years will be trained. However, beginners are also beginners in road traffic: they are still inexperienced and insecure on the way to school and therefore need special consideration. Together with the traffic guard, therefore participates in the action “Safe school path”. But also the schools of the area try to prepare their students as well as possible on the way to school and the special dangers in the place.

In all schools, traffic safety is always on the agenda. Martin Roemer, Head of the Joseph-Christian-Community School in Reutlingen, explains that the topic of the new education plan is also given in the new education plan: “The teachers and teachers are, of course, also going to the street and practicing the correct crossing of the street, for example and point to dangerous traffic situations.”Over the past few years, the school has also practiced the school bus security with the first years in cooperation with the bus companies and the police in safety vest. “This year, too, we have already asked the police,” says Roemer.

Warning vests should be mandatory for cyclists

The Deutsche Police wants to introduce reflective warning vests for cyclists in Berlin. This is a new discussion about road safety.

Many bikers are traveling in the dark without light, endanger themselves and other traffic. Especially in the winter months, when it gets dark early, many cyclists are easily overlooked. The Deutsche police Berlin now demands that cyclists must wear a reflective warning vest from the dark.

“With warning vests, bikers can be better seen in the dark,” said Bozo, regional president, Berliner. “Therefore, at dawn and at night, there should be a duty to wear warning safety vest.” The demand arose when the radio drivers were consulted in conversation with the traffic control officials. Berlin’s cyclists would be racing through the city, especially in the evening hours without light. “The excuses are usually the same, the light has just broken,” reported of the experiences of the officials. “It’s especially blatant; it’s not going to happen anyway.”

The interest representation of the cyclists, the Deutsche Club (ADFC), sees the trade union challenge critically. “Those who want to make cycling safer, have to look for safe wheel tracks and ensure a good traffic climate through public relations, as shown by international comparisons such as Copenhagen and the Netherlands,” said Stephanie Crones, press officer of the ADFC. “Those who feel welcome and respected as cyclists on the streets are more likely to follow the rules. The need for lighting and reflective vest for bicycles is sufficient to ensure the visibility and perceptibility of cyclists.”

Practice the school route again with wear safety vest

In the previous year, 570 children were injured on the way to school. The association “Large protect small” advises: “Always keep the safe way with older children, keep a high visibility vest, avoid distractions and reduce speed!” Every year, about 1300 children are walking around the country on foot, by bicycle or by road and sports equipment.

Almost half of them were injured on the way to school.

“Practice the school route not only with the schoolchildren, but with all the schoolchildren and the 10-year-olds who go to high school or the new middle school! Even if the path is not new: First, the holidays are much forgotten, secondly, important points have often changed. Parents of schoolchildren, together with the next generation, should best deal with the safest way to school in the last two weeks. It is extremely important that children not only know the traffic rules but can also apply them well “, emphasizes Holler Till, President of the Association” Large Protect Small “and Executive Board of the Grazer Kinder.

Lack of awareness of danger

The trigger for childish pedestrian accidents is often a confusing traffic situation. Children look less often on the left, run impulsively across the street, appear more suddenly behind obstacles, play with the mobile phone, follow people without looking and choose the shortest way.

In addition, the awareness of the dangers of schoolchildren is still reduced to the moment. They can only recognize ad hoc: “Now I am in danger”.

The anticipated perception of danger, which is so important for traffic safety, is not fully developed until 11 years.

Dangerous distractions

Distractions, such as the mobile phone, are a second serious risk factor: “Talk to your child that telephones, also a great danger for pedestrians. It is best to leave the next generation on the way to school, “advises till. Also the headphones stay better at home, so that the ears are free for traffic noise. On the sidewalk, it is important to go as far in as possible, not to run, push or catch.

Be sure to plan the time: Stress increases the risk of accidents!

Sleeping well and having breakfast? This is especially important for school children when it comes to attention and concentration – not only at school, but also on the way there.

Make sure that your child is wearing bright or reflective clothing and a schoolbag with sufficiently large reflectors, especially in the dark season – this is the norm of DIN 58124!

When your child walks: Choose a school path that your child can safely cope with! Take some detours for this!

Show your child that there is a need to pay attention to the traffic lights at the traffic lights!

The number of children walking to school generally decreases. Just before school days, too many cars are on the road just before school starts – because children are increasingly being brought by their parents.

“By means of regular pick-up and delivery services, however, children who are on foot are much more at risk,” warns the association.

In addition, children in safety vest often benefit from the fact that they are on their way to school: not only is their safety to be promoted in road traffic but also positive effects on the joy of movement, social relationships and the ability to concentrate in the classroom.

How to properly set the lights in the car

With fast dusk and limited visibility, driving in the autumn and winter time requires more attention and skill behind the wheel. A high visibility vest can enhance the bright can keep you safer. In front of us is increased traffic on the roads due to Christmas and New Year holidays and trips to the holidays.

Remembering your own safety and other road users, pay attention to the state of the lights in our vehicles:

– The driver must always have lights turned on – according to the road conditions

– Lamp shades should be clean

– The lights must be set correctly – otherwise they will light up too close or dazzle other drivers

– The lights are always replaced after replacing the bulb, reflector, safety vest, cullet, repairing the suspension. We recommend using incandescent lamps approved by approved manufacturers – do not install LEDs and xenon bulb substitutes.

– If the reflector or diffuser is frayed and the light is shining poorly or the beam is blurred, it is safer to replace the reflector with a new one.

– Remember that most of the lights in vehicles at night do not guarantee sufficient illumination of the road, because the range of correctly positioned lights is between 20 m and 70 m on the left and rarely exceeds 100 m on the right. It is worth remembering during the overtaking maneuver.

– When driving at dusk, with the passing beam, be careful and safe, which is often well below the maximum allowed. The light of our car may be much weaker than other cars, sometimes for our own safety we should go slower than others.

– Adjust the speed also on the corners – the passing lights are asymmetrical, so when turning the corner is much better lit the turn to the right, and at the turn to the left the road is lighted closer and we are much dazzle

– We appeal to pedestrians to use proven reflective surfaces as large as possible, and placed low, reflective bands on their feet. Attested reflective vests are best seen. The fact that pedestrians see the car lights does not mean that the driver sees the pedestrian – it is safer to go down the road.

Thanks to educational actions such as “Safe Driving”

Last year in Poland there were over 2.8 thousand. Year by year their number drops. In order to increase the safety of children and their awareness, it is necessary to educate the youngest. McDonald’s Polka for the 7th time has organized a “Safe Driving” educational program for students on the road safely. This year’s edition focuses on promoting visibility and wearing reflective safety vest.

– We have over 26 million registered motor vehicles in Poland, of which more than 17 million are passenger cars. The automotive factor is very high. Children and adolescents who go to elementary or middle school will sooner or later become the driver of a passenger car. Education is needed in the spirit of respect for the law. – It is a very good investment in the safety of the youngest and will result in the future of Polish roads will be more secure.

McDonald’s has organized an educational program for 8 years. This year’s edition of the program was a response to the continuing problem of traffic accidents involving children and insufficient awareness of wearing reflective.

“Safe Driving” is a program for public primary schools across the country, for teachers of communication and above all for fourth grade students, “says Dominick, communications manager at McDonald’s.”We care about the growing awareness among young people that what they do, their knowledge of traffic rules, the need to wear reflective elements directly affects their safety,” she says.

This year the patronage over the action was taken by the National Road Safety Council and once again supported by the Road Traffic Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters. McDonald’s licensees are also actively involved in locally promoting the school’s shares.

– This is an attractive form of learning for children. We provide educational materials, exercises, reflective vests and bands. During school children learn basic traffic regulations, how to safely move on the way home and what dangers they may encounter – explains Arcadias Droids, licensees McDonald’s Poland, owner of restaurants in Torun.

The “Safe Driving” communication education classes were conducted on the basis of didactic materials prepared by experts and positively evaluated by the Ministry of National Education.

– Interest is very big. This year 30 thousand participants participated in the class. From Torun alone there were 550 participants from 9 schools. So it is very evident that such an initiative is needed, Droids points out.

For almost half of the students participating in the lessons, the program ends with a bicycle card exam. Each student who successfully walks through the education process and passes the test will receive a card and a reflective set of secure cyclist.

– For 9 years we have already reached over 110 thousand. Students attending to 3.2 thousand schools and we still receive new applications. The program will continue, because we see a deep sense in this.

The police statistics show that only last year there were 2.8 thousand. Road accidents involving children up to the age of 14, 70 children died, over 3,000 children died, suffered injuries. Compared to 2006, the number of accidents involving children fell by nearly half, killed more than 53 percent, and wounded by 46 percent.

– Thanks to the program, children will be able to safely participate in crowded cities, both as pedestrians and as cyclists. – Safety is a commodity that must be attractively packaged, hygienist and thus sold to the youngest road users. Thanks to that the Polish roads will be more secure. Really great respect for the campaign organizer, McDonald’s, we count on further editions, “he adds.

Last year there were 458 accidents involving pedestrians who were under the age of 14 with age, the more children become independent, and the greater the risk of accidents?

This year’s edition of “Safe Driving” was a response to the still insufficient awareness of wearing reflective clothing. A pedestrian who moves in the dark without glare, the driver can see from a distance of about 20 meters. Visible reflectors increase this distance to over 150 meters.
