With the onset of autumn, hunters with wearing safety vest began to play the main hunting season. Common hunts, especially for small game, are held in the region from the beginning of November until the end of the year, practically every weekend. Many are planning to visit police to check compliance. But the hunters themselves are also careful about the rules. More and more emphasis is placed on their own safety.

 

Police officers in Wallachia have checked three hunts this year, another sixteen checks are scheduled. In the whole region, they visited twelve hunts, checking to plan sixty-five.

 

Wherever they are hunted, men have a very good overview of the law. “All hunts, usually common to small game, such as hares and pheasants, have to report to the police in advance,” explained Michal, head of the Stein District Hunting Association.

Police officers control weapons and alcohol

The hunters do not intend to hunt the public in particular. It is a fact that a specific place is specified operationally in the morning before the hunt, in addition to the hunt is issued local hunters. In a given village, people usually know that the hunt takes place.

The reason is that the violation of the regulations threatens the immediate loss of the firearms license for five years. The firearms license can also come to hunters for offenses they commit in everyday life and which are not related to hunting.

Hunters have also put more emphasis on the safety of honeys in recent years. They are increasingly using reflexes on clothing. “In the world, in North America and Canada, it has been happening for several years,” said Michal.

 

Even in our lands, it is the rule that all hunters who are in the hood have reflective vests or jackets. Most hunters on habitats have reflexive hats, reflective crinkles, or scarves. “There is no law to us yet. We do it for our own safety, “said Dubcek.

There is no wonder. In the case of small game hunters, the hunters are burning with shotguns, and then there is not much risk. “The shotgun has an effective range of forty meters, the shotgun range is within a hundred and fifty meters,” Dubcek said.

The ball guns target wildlife hunters from a distance of fifty to two hundred meters. “But the deadly effect has a bullet across the flight path, which is five kilometers,” the hunter said.

 

According to him, cases of someone being shot are rare. Maybe every two years. “There are a hundred thousand hunters in the republic. If every year we burn fifty wounds on average, we can easily calculate the number of shots, “said Dubcek.” The number of wounds that fall in the hunts is the minimum number of injuries. “Nobody is infallible, but compared to road traffic we need to admit that the car is a much worse weapon, but I do not want to apologize, “the hunter assured.

 

The police statistics are also in favor of hunters. Last year, for example, police officers in the county did not notice a single injury. “We did not find any misdemeanor. Probably due to frequent and regular checks, they are free of hardship, “said regional police spokesman Lena.

 

Police in safety vest detain vehicle registration certificates

By means of traffic signs, the municipality can restrict the operation of trucks where the conditions for their use are inadequate. This generally preserves the possibility of operating these trucks and, at the same time, gives local authorities the power to regulate their use locally. In case of approval of the law, the Ministry of Transport plans to introduce a new traffic sign prohibiting the movement of trucks.

 

The seaway cannot be moved completely from the sidewalk to the road. Unlike cyclists, seaway people typically borrow and find themselves in the streets without having much experience with driving. Such a means, which is wider than a wheel and has automatic control, would be dangerous on the road both for the users themselves and for the driver.

 

Obligation to clean the vehicle before driving

The amendment also introduces stricter rules for traffic psychological examinations. The aim is that this obligation is not only a formality and not easy to circumvent. The content of the psychological examination will be clearly defined. If the driver gets a negative opinion, he cannot replace him for three months with a positive opinion from another psychologist. On the other hand, however, people will be able to ask for a psychological examination.

 

Bail in the offense

In the event that the driver does not lay down a bail, which the policeman determines because of the risk of circumventing the administrative procedure, the policeman will be able to re-hold the vehicle registration certificate. In addition to the possibility of shutting down the vehicle, the police officer in reflective uniform will have another tool that has a similar effect and can simplify the enforcement of road rules.

A giant with a reflective jacket and a solid handshake

They sweated and worked underground for 17 years, 360 days a year and 24 hours a day. When the Gotthard base tunnel is inaugurated with great pomp next week, many of them have already left the scene. The 2,000 miners employed at the construction site remained anonymous, while they realized the work of the centuries.

 

Nostalgia, pride and satisfaction; this is what René Kaufmann feels when he thinks of the tunnel. René Kaufmann, a giant with a reflective jacket and a solid handshake, has just spent 14 years in the Gotthard base tunnel. First in mine rescue, then in equipment management and finally as a locomotive engineer in Sedum (GR), where the difficult geological conditions allowed to work only with explosives.

 

Blasting is the queen discipline in the tunnel. The blaster master performs a final check round before proceeding with the explosion. The detonation is deafening, the huge shock wave. The acrid smell of ammonia rises to the nose of the miners. It’s hot – up to 50 degrees – wet and dust is ubiquitous. Thus the 46-year-old man described his daily task: “I had to carry comrades out of the tunnel because they collapsed.”

Team work in the heart of the mountain is hard: ten days of work, four leave. Quick starts are not uncommon. “Either you’re done for the tunnel, or you’re not.” René Kaufmann has been doing this job for thirty years.

 

His great-grandfather and grandfather were already working in the mines. A small town in East Germany, this is tradition. The locality was known for decades for its pure copper ore. Since he was sixteen, he is in the mines. The daily work has undergone dramatic changes: while René Kaufmann has learned the craft from scratch, satellite-guided machines perform many tasks today. The first workers in reflective vest were still attacking the rock with pickaxes and shovels. But for Kaufmann, the challenge remained the same: “snatch” a tunnel into the mountains.

 

What has also remained the same: risks? Despite the most modern technology, the fear is there when the elevator drops 800 meters to Sedum and a new day begins. Blocks of unstable rock, chemical substances, fires or accidents: many dangers lie in the mountains. Kaufmann learned it painfully: two comrades lost their lives in the tunnel. The memory of this 28-year-old German is lively, has become daddy shortly before and crushed dead between two wagons of ballast.

 

“These were hard times. Also because these accidents could have been avoided, “explains René Kaufmann. His compatriot had forgotten to press the emergency button to stop it. A miner must not only respect the mountain, but also the machines. The miners also count on Sainte Barbed, their patroness. There is no tunnel under construction that is not guarded by the saint.

 

It is not only the blows of fate that bind miners. Their lives reflect their work in the mountains. In Sedum, Kaufmann and his comrades lived on the outskirts of the village, in containers installed above the building site. Each had a single room. WC and showers were upstairs; meals were taken in the canteen.

 

All the minors came from abroad, especially from Germany, Austria, Portugal and Italy. Fellowship is crucial: “We are a small family”. We invite ourselves for grills, we play football or cards. René remained in contact with some colleagues, “thanks to Facebook”. Only teamwork allows for a real family life. After eight days, Kaufmann wear safety vest took the wheel of his car and was 800 kilometers. He spent five days with his wife and two sons before returning to Switzerland.

 

The future remains open. And René Kaufmann is a bit disillusioned. He expected a little more consideration here: “Once the tunnel is over, they drop you like a hot potato.” Currently, he takes care of the last interviews in the gallery. His contract expires the day before the festive inauguration of the tunnel. It has already been announced at the ORP, the regional placement office.
