Reflective vests to protect pedestrians

The safety of pedestrians is part of the work of the agents of the Traffic sector of the Civil Guard, who in recent days, within their daily tasks, have carried out a distribution of reflective vests among pedestrians.

The initiative is part of the constant work of the Civil Guard for the sake of improving road safety and reducing the number of victims on roads throughout Galicia and leads them to stop pedestrians driving without the corresponding vest and give them one.

Also, they take the opportunity to remind them of the regulations on road safety, which states that the use of this piece is mandatory for pedestrians and drivers. In the case of pedestrians, failure to reach it is a penalty of 80 euros. For drivers, the fine is higher, 200 euros, and also involves the loss of 3 points if you get out of the vehicle without it.

Traffic officers also report that if a pedestrian drives without a safety vest a driver does not detect him until he is 20 meters away, but if they take this piece of safety they can see him already at 150 meters, so it increases by 130 meters of reaction from other road users.

Kuralai Nurkadilova and Baldur Asanova gave an assessment of the new form of police

Kazakh designers spoke about the working draft of a new form of police, reports Tengrinews.kz. Men’s form is presented in several versions: a shirt with short sleeves and pants in dark blue color, autumn and winter jackets. Also included are yellow vests labeled Polisia. In addition, there are winter jackets, pants, safety vests, gloves with reflective stripes. As hats offer caps and hats, on which there is embroidery in the form of the logo of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.

The female form is represented in the form of a short-sleeved shirt, trousers, and skirts in blue, a long coat and a long jacket. Caps are also offered.

Well-known designer Kuralai Nurkadilova noted that, in general, she has no complaints about the new form. “They observed the safety of the policeman himself, who works on the roads. There are bright reflective stripes on the uniform. Only here the headgear is wrong – they visually diminish the head. And there are no strong complaints. For our people, the new design looks bright and extraordinary. Perhaps, if this form were presented as it should be, on professional models x, but not on the real police, it would look more beautiful. Still, this is a presentation, and the models are able to present clothes to the audience,” she said.

In turn, designer Baldur Asanova was not impressed by the uniform. According to her, there is no zest. And the color of the form looks faded. “The form should be recognizable as abroad. In addition, uniforms should have local colors. There is a special table. The cleaner the color, the more pleasant the look. And here’s a dirty color. There’s nothing new in the design. The distinctive feature is embroidered ‘Kazakhstan.’ For me, this is not a police uniform, but an office uniform. I did not understand why it was a lemon-colored form. It’s too bright, too funny the police turned out, ” she believes.

MIA RK presented a working draft of the new form. The ministry noted that the main requirements for uniform uniforms are its practicality, attractiveness, convenience, and disposal of unnecessary elements in the design. After the presentation in Kaznet, disputes arose about the correctness of the spelling of the word “police” in the Kazakh Latin script. The linguist Erden Kazhybek commented on these disputes and explained that so far there is no final decision on the correct spelling of the name of the law enforcement agency.

Visibly well dressed in high visibility clothing

High-quality and highly functional warning clothing is justified in countless occupations and work areas. It protects against various professional risks and attracts the attention of third parties in poor visibility and darkness over long distances

FE Engel has long been appreciating the advantage of being easily recognizable: as Scandinavian winters have long dark periods and the oblique evening sun shines in the summer, high-visibility clothing has long been a central component of the protective clothing concept at the Danish clothing manufacturer.

In countless situations, high visibility clothing that is recognizable in any lighting conditions improves the protection of professionals. The eye-catching fluorescent colors and the retro reflective tapes clearly signal when workers move in dark halls, workshops, warehouses or construction sites, or travel on confusing terrain and poorly lit paths. They are a visual display for people at work. FE Engel has long appreciated this outstanding function of high-visibility clothing: “In Scandinavia, darkness dominates in winter, and on summer evenings a low-lying sun hides. That limits the view and becomes a risk factor, “explains managing director Carl E. Engel.

“Based on this experience, we have made the ISO 20471 warning function a central part of our protective clothing concept. It improves the chance of craftsmen and employees in industrial companies to be reliably and remotely recognized, even under special lighting conditions. This allows them to work undisturbed and safely. ”

Visibly safe dressed in everyday working life

With its two ranges Safety and Safety +, FE Engel offers one of the most comprehensive, highly functional and thoroughly thought-through safety-protection collections in Europe. The safety line is dedicated to an appearance on traffic routes that is safe in any weather. The numerous tops and pants meet ISO 20471 and offer various solutions in protection classes 1, 2 and 3. The Parka Shell jacket, the Shell pilot jacket, and rain jacket and pants also protect reliably against bad weather; they are additionally certified according to EN 343.

Safety + combines warning protection with the plus of other protection features required in trade and industry. These include protection against welding, heat, and flame (ISO 11611 and ISO 11612) in protection classes 1 and 2 as well as protection against the thermal hazards of an arc (FprEN 61482), chemical protection of type 6 (EN 13034) and protection against electrostatic charging (EN 1149-5).

The versatility of the FE Engel high-visibility collection is also reflected in the variety of colors: Safety and Safety + are available in the hi-vis basic colors red, yellow and orange, or are combined with the sought after shades of gray, green and dark blue in many industries.

The Safety and Safety + ranges include jackets, softshell and fleece jackets, safety vests, shirts, t-shirts, polos and sweatshirts, trousers, dungarees and shorts, and combinations.

Yellow vests for children

Security is everyone’s business. 240 yellow safety vests have just been given to the municipalities of the country of Evian.

“The goal of the operation is to participate in road safety by securing children who walk to school or to their bus stop in the morning and evening.”

The reflective vests were given to the representatives of the communes, Thursday evening, by the board of directors of the local Credit Bank.

Now it is up to the communes to distribute them but also to make the children and their supervisors aware of the usefulness of having them in the schoolbag and putting them on during the trips.

Free distribution of safety vests on the A6 motorway

The Association Attitude Prevention, created by insurers, will distribute free safety vests for adults and children on highways areas of the A6 this autumn.

When will these safety vest distribution take place?

7 out of 10 parents check that they have a safety vest, safety equipment (spare wheel, anti-puncture kit…) and a warning triangle. On the other hand, they are only one-third to possess a vest adapted to the size of their children.

In children, the wearing of the safety vest is still little known. Indeed, they are only 45% to know that it is necessary to put one out of the vehicle in case of accident or breakdown.

The association Attitude Prevention will therefore take advantage of departures on autumn to meet motorists. It will distribute safety vests free to young and old.

First graders received safety vests

“School in sight. Kids in view”, This is the motto of this year’s security campaign for first graders of the ADAC Foundation, in which more than 36,000 from West Germany 760,000 safety vests are distributed to first graders in Saxony.

As a prelude, Saxony’s Minister of Education Christian visited the 95th elementary school “Caroline” in Dresden today. Together with representatives of the action partners, he presented the West to 104 ABC shooters. Minister of Education Christian thanks the ADAC Foundation and the Deutsche Post DHL Group for this important event: “The best protection for our new school students is to be seen. The girls and boys with vest are visible at dusk up to 150 meters for motorists. That’s five times as far as dark-clad children. “says Pixar. The Minister also pointed out that traffic education was firmly anchored in the elementary school curriculum. Thus, in the first to fourth grade in the subject, the most important traffic rules and traffic-oriented behavior are taught.

Wearing a safety vest gives children and parents additional security when, in the fall, many first-year students master the way to school for the first time in the dark. Elementary school students often cannot properly assess the danger on the roads and because of their height, they often lack an overview. In addition, the directional hearing is not yet pronounced and the field of view is limited. So the children cannot always recognize approaching road users “out of the corner of their eyes”.

The signal effect of the safety vest of the ADAC Foundation makes children visible from afar for all other road users. An effect that protects you not only on the way to school but also during your free time. Helmut, board member for traffic and technology of the ADAC Saxony, sees the parents primarily responsible. “The safety vest with reflective tapes only serves its purpose when worn. That should just be a matter of course. ”

The entire logistics – shipping, customs clearance, packaging and shipping – from 30,000 parcels to 16,000 elementary schools will be provided free of charge by Deutsche Post DHL as a contribution to cooperation. “We are proud to be involved in this important task. With our expertise as a logistics provider, we ensure that the safety vests with reflective materials arrive wherever they are needed: directly in elementary schools, directly with the girls and boys who, as first graders, often make their first independent steps as road users, “says Ina, Head of the Department of Transport at the Deutsche Post Dresden branch.

First graders master the way to school

They are barely larger than the knapsack they carry on their backs. And they are excited – after all, a whole new period of life begins. And for some, the path may not even be 100 percent: Around 1,200 girls and boys from the Höxter district has their very first day of school on Thursday, 30 August. By the next Friday at the latest, the little ones will go on the daily way to school. So that the police and traffic watch gives important tips.

On foot

Most children are at school. The youngsters did not only gain experience. “movement and fresh air before the lesson start also increase the ability to concentrate,” for example, informs the Höxter district police, but because they perceive their surroundings differently from adults, they are in traffic especially at risk.

Go the way up to ten times

The police advises parents to walk the path five to ten times with their offspring. Even at the beginning of school, the adults should still be there. “Because then there is more traffic than at holiday time,” says Oliver. Parents should not forget their role model role – especially with regard to traffic lights and crossing aid and the use of mobile phones.

Firstly, the police recommends that the children do not go to school in groups. “Until they are safe on the way to school and recognize danger spots,” says Thane, because alone, the little ones usually learned better and were less distracting. “Thereafter, nothing speaks against dating,” says the traffic expert. Especially in the dark season, Thane advises “reflective clothing.” Safety vests, reflectors, satchels or flashing shoes: “There are even reflective yarn, especially creative parents can knit hats.”

Police are present on the first days

In the first few days, the police will be present on the school routes. “Helping and educating people is at the forefront,” officials said in a statement announcing increased speed measurements and checks on child seats, bus and bicycle traffic.

By bicycle

By bike only older children should go to school. “It’s not until they’re 14 that the ability to ride safely develops,” the police said, adding that the ability to focus on road traffic over a longer period of time does not educate boys and girls until they are about eight years old.

Parental taxis should use parking in the area

“On the way back, things can be different”, Thane points out, so children could suddenly run across the street behind the bus, so the police are also calling for stopping school buses to “pass by in two directions at walking pace”.

By car

The most convenient way to get to school is certainly the parental taxi. If you bring your own child to school by car, you should not chauffeur it all the way to the schoolyard. “Due to the pressure of the vehicle, there is a high risk potential,” the city of Höxter informs on NW request: “Parking space in the area should be used for getting in and out.”

23 ads at school walk training in Ziebach

The horror for every mom: The children stand obediently at the crosswalk, wait, the car stops, the car behind them too, the children go, suddenly both vehicles overtake a third car from behind – regardless of pedestrians or crosswalks. Incidentally, this scene actually happened in the middle of Ziebach. But it was not Mama who watched, but the police. Kids even wore yellow safety vests with reflective materials – clearly visible from a distance as a school walk training.

“I was shocked”. Admits frankly traffic cop Franz Mayer. “This has never happened to me during school-leaving training for preschool children.”  the kindergartens are always allowed to cross the crosswalk with their hi vis vests. Franz Mayer waits at the edge, on the other side she receives an educator.

Many drivers do not follow the traffic rules

“We do this training every year with kindergartens in the Inn valley,” explains Mayer, who does this together with his colleague Roland Minter. But this year, the two noticed especially that many drivers do not follow the traffic rules. Because the stating: If a pedestrian waits at a zebra crossing, the car must hold compellingly.

If it drives anyway, it costs 80 Euros and a point in Flensburg. A total of 23 motorists alone during the school exercise disregarded this rule and took the children’s right of way.

With these accessories, you are shining in the dark

Did you ever get scared while driving these days, when suddenly a pedestrian stood on the roadside you had not seen before? A situation that occurs on the streets every day during the winter months. And that often enough lead to accidents. But there is a pleasing trend: Flashing on the sidewalks and streets of the republic is becoming more and more frequent.

“We can confirm this trend. That’s definitely the case,” says Michael of the traffic accident prevention police in Dusseldorf. “And of course it makes sense because you are seen so much earlier.” Especially cyclists and scooter riders are increasingly traveling with safety vests.

The expert explains: If the spotlight falls on normal clothing. It is only visible from a distance of 30 to 40 meters. “With reflective clothing, it’s 140 to 150 meters, so you’ll be recognized in the spotlight up to five times as early.” And the sooner drivers see one, the better for everyone involved. How bad the visibility can be, shows this video of the Austrian Automobile Club ÖAMTC in a frightening and informative way:

Anyone looking for it soon realizes that there are plenty of light products and reflective clothing for people and animals in the trade. Many accessories are now even really stylish. Earlier, cyclists could choose whether to buy a safety vest in neon yellow or bright orange, and today there are reflective caps, glowing waist and waist straps to accentuate the sporty outfit, or cling and LED bands in all sorts of colors, variations and styles Wish even patterned. Who wants to be an eye-catcher in the dark, can even provide his shoes with shining shoelaces in pink, blue or green.

The products have another thing in common: many are doubly useful. You need a bike lock anyway – why not buy the reflective one then? Even the dog collar when going for a walk must be. If you can additionally protect the quadruped by flashing and lighting, that is an argument for many owners. Many parents may also find the idea of a reflective umbrella for children good: during the day it is light gray, but in the dark it light up when a car headlight illuminates it.

Today it is much cheaper than before to make clothes with reflective elements, which add fuel to the trend. “There are more and more often cheap products to buy, also and especially at the discount stores,” says Axel from BTE trade association textile. For children, in jackets, trousers and shoes, reflective fabrics are often seen from the outset. And last but not least, police, cities and associations are constantly launching traffic visibility campaigns, raising awareness of this issue.

Safe to school: ADAC safety vests for students

22 first graders of the Vosges school in Karlsruhe received on Wednesday not only bright yellow safety vests but also tips on the correct behavior in road traffic by ADAC traffic expert Christophe.

In luggage had a glowing safety vest for each student. While a dark-clad pedestrian can only be recognized by a car driver from a distance of around 25 meters in poor visibility, the visibility in light-colored clothing is already improving to 40 meters, the traffic expert explained to the students. However, anyone who wears reflective clothing is easily noticeable even at a distance of around 150 meters.

Introduce students to road traffic as early as possible

In the dark school, the corridor was tried, how well you can see the reflective safety vest when it is detected by a ray of light. “The safety vests help us in our traffic education work and we try to familiarize students with road traffic as early as possible,” explained Deputy Headmistress of the Vosges School Heike Bohr.

In order to further improve the traffic safety of school children, parents should practice the way to school with their offspring. The ADAC recommends. However, municipalities are also required to create the conditions for a safe way to school, and not least the motorists. You should always keep a close eye on children at the edge of the road and drive extra cautiously near schools, the ADAC says.
